I know that many of you have issues with the fact that the dock cannot connect to your computer via usb, and I totally get that. If I bought this for that reason, I'd be pissed too. However, this is plain and simply a charging dock. The end. While it's just a charging dock, it does an awesome job at doing just that. Like many, I use my phone as a primary alarm clock, so having it right next to my bed is a godsend. I don't use productivity mode often, but I'm sure it'd look nice on a desk. My only gripe is that the screen is just a tad too bright at night, but that lies with the phone itself. The fact that the Droid 3 includes a bedside mode is awesome. If you need to turn your phone into a bedside clock, then instantly buy this. Well worth the money.

Agree with earlier posts... Can't sync or connect to the PC via this dock nor can you charge a droid 3 with it when connected to a PC... Sure you get the night and productivity mode but so what?!? I was hoping to use these in my study, at the office and by bed... Now I'm thinking of just using it by the bed to prevent the phone from falling off the nightstand... Ohh and it you get the GOOD Case\Holster, you have to remove the droid, otherwise it won't fit in the charger... DISAPPOINTED!

I had the original Droid and a dock for it. Upgraded to a Droid 3 and bought this dock for it. The dock for the original Droid was weighted. It was substantial and would not move around when you docked the phone. This one is a lightweight. What's worse, the HDMI port is located beside the USB port on the phone. Most users like me need the USB to charge the phone. Not the HDMI. Having both ports together makes the phone MUCH harder to dock - even with two hands. You have to get it aligned just right whereas the Droid 1 just fell onto its dock and was just as easy to pull off. My solution - it works great! Take a pair of strong pliers and grasp the HDMI plug (not the USB!!!) then twist. Take a sharp flat blade screw driver and pry back and forth over the stub and wire that is the remainder of the HDMI plug. When it's gone and smooth and only the USB plug remains in the dock, you can slip the Droid 3 into the dock with one hand and effortlessly pull it off after charging.

This seller shipped on time so I ended up getting this Motorola Droid 3 Dock within 5 business days with the free shipping. Came in original packaging with Dock removable attachment and wall charger with authentic Motorola sticker

I have a Droid 3 with a snap on plastic case for both the screen and the slider. I took off the removable attachment on the Dock and the phone slipped directly into place. Not too tight, not too loose. Perfect.

Other people on here were saying that the phone didn't fit with the case on or that it was difficult to put the phone on the Dock so you'd have to pry things apart. They are wrong. I own this product and use it bedside. Granted, this Dock has the HDMI hookup that was different than the Droid 2. But this one is great because you can attach to an HDMI ready monitor or TV and watch all those spur-of-the-moment YouTube clips.

Your Droid 3 (different from the Droid 2) allows you to customize what you want to show when it's docked. You can choose so many combinations with calendar, clock, weather, or other apps. I personally like being able to watch videos hands-free and talk to friends on speaker while it's docked as I drift off to sleepyland.

I give it 4.5 stars because I wish the wall piece was longer and I haven't even tried to hook it up to my laptop yet.

I agree with most of the other comments. In the first place, this will not work with the Otter Box protective case. Just like most other stands of this nature, whether Apple or anyone else, they take no consideration of protection for the device. The Otter Box would work fine if they had only made the connectors to the phone more flexible. I'll probably end up cutting a hole in the plastic behind the connectors so I don't have to remove the Otter Box every night to use it. Any protective case that has dust covers over the connectors will not work without modification to something.

If you have a Droid 4 and are wondering if it will work, yes it will.

The display for bed stand use is terrible. They turn on the back light instead of just allowing the user to adjust the brightness of the clock itself. This is really dumb IMHO. If you need a night light right in your eyes as you try to sleep, this will provide it for you. It has two modes. Night stand, and desk. They could have easily allowed the desk version to allow communication and syncing with your computer. But they didn't. Another dumb thing.

The charging system is another point that was less than well thought out. The cable from the charger to the stand should be a "left hand 90" instead of straight out. If you need this stand up close to a wall, or maybe a built in shelf/book case in your headboard, forget it. The second part of this criticism is that they didn't even supply the USB type charger. So even if you "happen" to have an extra 90 degree micro, you can't use it! The other thing I can't understand is why Motorola has no indicator to tell you when the battery is fully charged.

This item was not a well thought out design. Junior High school kids could have easily come up with a better design. With the Amazon discount, it's just about worth the price. Certainly no more.
