If you suddenly find your hands crippled, as I did, and you don't believe that Osteoarthritis can knock you down quite that quickly, then you might want to consider wearing wrist braces such as this one to help keep your wrists supported at night, reducing the pain and discomfort of CTS.

After my doctor diagnosed my problem, I was sent out to search for wrist braces for both my wrists, and that is not an easy thing to find in my small town. The single old-time drug store in my town had a variety of braces, and the Futuro ones were by far the most comfortable. They are soft neoprene (think wet-suit material), with no rubbing edges. The first time you put them on, there are a couple of simple Velcro adjustments to make (for size), and then you can slip them off and one like a glove, with one Velcroed strap to tighten them.

The store had other braces, but many required multiple adjustments every time you put them on, and had rough seams that I knew would be uncomfortable while sleeping.

These come in S/M and L/XL, with right or left-handedness. My hands measure about 6.75 inches around the knuckles, and I found that the L/XL was most comfortable. (With smaller hands, you will need to go down.) The store I visited had only a left hand in this size, so I was delighted to find the right hand on Amazon, and for half the price.

It's my favorite wrist brace so far. It's soft and comfortable. I wear every night to sleep. I wished that the velco part would last longer. I have to replace them every 3 months because the velco stops sticking after 3 months.

PROS:
(1) This is about the best wrist brace I've used for daytime activities (and I've tried about five different types).
(2) Yes, even though it doesn't say it, you can machine wash them. I take the metal out and put them in a cinch locking laundry wash bag.

CONS:
(1) It starts to give off a foul odor quickly unlike other brands/materials. The combination of sweat and this material is not great. Because this is the best brace I've used. however, I end up just buying a couple extra pairs to use in the week and then machine wash them on the weekend.
(2) Machine washing them does wear down the velcro quickly. (I won't take a star for this since they don't advertise it as machine washable.)
(3) The velcro wears down quickly even without washing and the material where you velcro to starts pilling quickly
(4) The elastic material that fits on your hand starts warping quickly. They should have designed it so you strap it on and don't have to stretch your hand through it, thereby wearing it down.

Overall, hard decision to knock two stars for this since it really is a great brace. I started with four stars but realized that there are a lot of "CONS" so I adjusted to three. If the material and a few design features would change, this would easily be a five star product! In the end, it relieves and prevents carpal tunnel symptoms which is what it is designed to do!

I'm a plus-sized woman who needs braces on hands (I've had three hand surgeries and still have trouble). Ace just changed their design (AGAIN!), and I really liked their old design and was wary of their new design. So, I decided to try something different. I purchased the large/x-large, but the neoprene glove is really, really tight! (I only needed a medium/large in the Ace brand.) I find them really difficult to put on. I can get them on after a struggle, and I like the design, I just wish the inner glove had alittle more give, or a little more space. I will keep them to use after I lose some more weight, or I will give them to my skinny sons who are trying to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome.

I got this about 3 1/2 months ago when the splint I was issued prevented me from doing just about everything. I only wear that one at night now.
This one allows me to use my hand for pretty much everything. It's quick and easy to remove for hand washing. It says not to machine wash or dry, but I put mine in my front loader with no problems. Just make sure the velcro is stuck to the support or turn it inside out. I mistakenly put it in the dryer once with no ill effects so I continue to do that. I am not having any trouble with the velcro staying fastened. The top of the palm area where the metal stay fits was wearing through but I just put a few stitches in it and it's good as new again.

My wife works in a grocery store as a cashier. She drags thousands of items a day over the scanner and pushes then down the belt. She was having wrist pain and she decided to try these. She's on her third or fourth pair now and she said they definitely help make her wrist feel better. They do wear out every 9-12 months or so. She uses some duct tape to keep them on the last couple months since the Velcro fails before the rest of the unit fails.

All in all, it's a relatively cheap way to keep her wrists happier :-)

This is a great brace. I'm a computer programmer who also spends time at the computer as a hobby, so needless to say I spend a lot of time at the computer. My wrists and hands were hurting from so much computer time, so I picked up one of these braces along with it's right-hand counterpart. Wearing them while at the computer really helps to keep good posture and support, and wearing them whenever my wrists hurt, or at night when I go to bed, can be a great relief.

However, the velcro does not last very long. I ordered them about two months ago and already the velcro sometimes slips loose from where I place it, so it is more difficult to keep them as firm and secure on my wrists to provide the necessary support. I like this product, but would like to see one with more durability.
