If your handwriting leaves a bit to be desired because you're more technical than creative, i.e. not a penmanship snob, this is the pen for you. The 0.7's and 0.5's tend to run together if your writing is like mine - small and with the letters close to one another. That's not a problem with the 0.38 nibs. Your thin writing will be legible in all of its ugly glory.

Face it. If you're reading my review for disposable pens, this is your reality. You and I have both spent enough money on trying to find the "right" pen that we both could be owners of some of the most expensive writing instruments that have ever been made. Instead we have drawers and cups filled with pens that we thought were great.......until we found another one to try.

The truly perfect situation for me would be this refill fitting in a Parker Jotter.

I love this pen. I'm used to writing with 0.5 lead pencils, but I thought I'd try out something smaller and smoother for my lecture notes. This was great!
I like to squeeze in notes wherever I can, and this allowed me to do so. The pen writes very smoothly. It'll smudge if you touch it immediately after writing, but it dries quickly so that problem is avoidable for right-handed people.
This is the only writing utensil I have found with lead this small. So far, it hasn't leaked or anything.

Overall, if you like small handwriting, this is the perfect pen for you :)

I write very small, so I'm very picky about the pens I use since if they aren't small enough they make my handwriting clump together. I love the G2 brand since they are good quality pens that write smoothly and have a deep color that cheaper/low-quality pens often don't have. I do a ton of writing, so the fact that the pens glide easily and write smoothly is very important to me. The ultra fine point makes my handwriting small, yet still clear, and the fact that there were three more colors than just plain black made me insanely happy.

Although I love the G2s, the tips on them do occasionally break and make them unusable. It isn't a major problem since usually I run out of pens or ink before it happens, but it can get frustrating when it happens. Especially since my friends and family always steal my pens after using them, so it seems like I'm always running low on pens. These colored pens specifically have that shaky feel I get when the tip is about to break in a G2, so I feel a bit careful while writing and anxious about the thought that they might break soon. I've been using them for about a month now and they've still held up, but that shaky feeling still makes me nervous and is what makes me give them only four out of five stars.

For fast precision writing, these are the best that I have found. That said, they aren't perfect. I have found that the ink line is so thin, that it smudges less because it dries so quickly. That's a good thing. They don't seem to spill ink on clothes very easily, another plus.

The biggest gripe I have is that occasionally they will just stop writing with half full or more ink cartridges. This makes me have to carry at least two pens. A minor inconvenience... but still, annoying. Usually I can revive them by scribbling with it like crazy or running it under water.

A lot of other ultra-fine tip pens I've used have tips that are prone to clogging or have finicky writing angles. The G2 just writes. It responds just fine to multiple angles over it's entire life span. It doesn't skip in the least, meaning the tiny letters you will write with this will come out smoothly. At such a fine point, a point other inks don't handle as well, the normally accelerated ink consumption of gel ink is far less noticeable. The ink itself is water and fade resistant. The pens are also refillable, which is always a nice bonus.

It's not completely perfect, though. While it's not uncomfortable to write with, there are pens with much better grips. The ink can smear easily if you don't give it a little time to dry; though, it's highly smear-resistant once it does. The pen's body doesn't hold up to abuse very well, either. Really, though, all this means is it's low on frills, and for the price that's not much of a minus.

In summary, this is a really good pen. It writes just about a nicely as you'd like it to, and while it's not completely perfect, it's perfectly functional. This, for the price, is more than reasonable.

Rarely, have I seen the local office supply stores carry multiple 0.38 colors of the G2 which is why I was pleased to find out that Amazon carries a wonderful pack of G2's in my favorite colors at a good price.

I like to draw my network & storage diagrams using different colors to highlight certain areas, this four pack is a no-brainer.

Have been using for notes everyday for over amonth and not running out of ink.

Cons
You need to write slower or pen leaves blank spots lines will look like this ____ _____ ___ when trying to draw a continuous line.
pen tip is sharp and can cut into what you are writing on if to much pressure is applied.

In total this pen was bought for small condense notes on post it pads may be frustrating to use if I were trying to take quick notes in cursive. The pen fits what I had in mind when I bought it so I'm giving it a 4/5 with a one for gaps in flow when writing too quickly.
