    I used this short for snorkeling in St. Thomas. They are great, dry very quickly, and the zipper pocket was perfect for holding my waterproof camera when I wasn't using it. Didn't have to worry about losing the camera. The other reviewers are right about size, I usually wear a large, but wear a medium in this short. It's more like a bathing suit than a short by the way. It has a mesh lining like a bathing suit.

    These swim trunks are HUGE. My husband usually takes an XXL, but we read the reviews and ordered an XL and an XXL to try them out. The cut is just weird on them. There's too much material (on both sizes) in the legs and waist, and not enough room for the man parts. So you get big baggy shorts with a tight, well outlined crotch (not flattering in the least). Needless to say, they went back.

    Columbia must have changed their sizes or they are have a manufacturing problem. I own Columbia medium shorts and they fit fine in agreement with the posted sizing chart. When I received these medium shorts they were at least a size too big. I see at least one other post with the same issue. Columbia shorts are well designed, but I'll need to make a trip to the store to verify the sizing before I order any more.

    Purchase price was fair and delivery prompt. Being a 32-33" waste, I ordered medium, which works after I replaced the belt & buckle. Had a problem at first adjusting shorts to fit my waste, and the buckle design seemed non-durable, so luckily I had an REI belt that I trust and use for multi sports activity. A size small choice may have fit, but defiently not large. My star rating is "4" because of the manufacture belt issue, and not the fault of the seller by any means.

    I really like these shorts! They have become my go-to swimwear. Comfortable enough to lounge all day or move around in. They also dry quickly after a swim.

    They did seem to fit a bit small for the size ordered, but that may be due to their multifunction design vs. normal swimming trunks. Fit great once I slip them over my hips, and I don't have to cinch them up as much as with normal trunks.

    I really wanted to like these shorts. I was trying to replace an older, discontinued pair of shorts from a different company that had a very similar design with integrated belt, inner mesh lining and pockets in these same locations.

    I give only 3 stars because the belt doesn't seem to go around the waist entirely, but rather has left and right sides that are affixed. This doesn't allow the belt to be moved to one side as it's being tightened and therefore the buckle jams up against the fabric preventing a snug fit. Also, I found the inner mesh lining to be abrasive at the openings which resulted in chafing.

    I like these quite a bit. They do run a size large like other reviewers have said, however, in my pair at least, the internal liner is a little small, smaller at least than the two pair of XL Snake river shorts (I bought a L in the Palmerston). If you're comparing the Snake River and the Palmerston, these are just as comfortable, but they only have one cargo pocket, and its smaller than either of the cargo pockets on the Snake River. Also, no back pocket. Not a huge deal for me, but something to consider.

    Length is great--the large hits me right in the middle of the knee. I wear these the same as I do my Snake Rivers, in the water AND out of the water to run around on hot days. Pool, beach, yard work, casual outings, etc. As a matter of fact, I paired these with a Columbia PFG long sleeve tee for the Forecastle Festival in Louisville this past weekend, and was plenty cool in 85-90 degree weather.

    All said, I like them, and I'll be buying another pair for my Daytona trip this fall ;)

    These are "relaxed fit" and they are huge! I fit an XLG. The waist is ok but the seat is huge. It has a tag stapled on the waist that says "relaxed fit" I did not see that noted anywhere on the advertising. I had to return them. Too bad, because I really liked them.
