If I could give less than 1 I would. This dehydrator is very dangerous. The trays melt see photo of what i woke up to this morning, be glad it's not a smell a photo the stench of burning plastic still lingers and it's almost noon. It could have gone on fire. DON'T BUY DEHYDRATORS WITH PLASTIC TRAYS. I'll just use my oven till I could afford one that is made right. I didn't buy it on Amazon, just wanted to warn my Amazon buddies.

I wanted a dehydrator biltong/jerkey maker for a long time and used my gift card to finally get one. With free shipping it was a great deal. I thinly sliced (with the grain) a couple of sirloin steaks, marinated them a couple of hours and then tested my prized machine. I kept an eye on it, rotated the trays as recommended, and in less than 8 hours I had perfect jerkey. One has to be patient and try various marinades. My next test will be drying flowers and fruit.
