As reported by others, I had challenges installing the Shimano SPD Cleats as suggested for this shoe. Despite the YouTube installation videos and the detailed instructions of one of the other reviewers (removing the inserts and flaps to access the plate in the shoe), the bolts as supplied with the Shimano SPD cleats were simply too short. I managed to get one to catch in the shoe plate, but never two. I contacted the seller of the shoe through Amazon and the seller suggested to send me slightly longer bolts. I received the bolts a couple of days later at no extra cost to me. The new bolts are only slightly longer (about 1/8 of an inch more), but installation of the SPD cleats was now a no-brainer (less than 5 minutes). When you order these shoes make sure therefore that you get SPD bolts that are at least 1/2 inch long. Shorter bolts will likely not work.
I have not yet tried these shoes with cycling, but they seem sturdy and have good ventilation. I will update this review if they do not work out. Please note that these shoes (as I received them) are mostly black including the mesh parts. On my computer screen the mesh appeared as reddish brown, but that seems to be a incorrect representation of the true color.

They arrived on time and installing the cleats was simple. No need for longer screws. I tried them for the first time today and they feel great. I was worried that they were going to be too big as I have a 9 1/2 foot but the size 43 fits well.

I bought these shoes for my spinning class. I didn't want to spend a lot of money because I was not sure I'd like cycling shoes or if it would make much of a difference.

First, if you like to spin with any regularity, buy a pair of cycling shoes. The difference is dramatic.

Now, should you buy these cycling shoes? I would say yes. I'm guessing that a more expensive pair might be a little more comfortable, and possibly be made out of nicer materials. But for an entry-level shoe, they meet my expectations.

The Good:
This shoe is easy to put on, is relatively comfortable, and makes my workouts a lot more effective.

The Bad:
The hard plastic soles provide no traction, and I almost wiped out getting off my bike at the end of a hard class. I also notice some numbing in my toes if I pull the straps too tight. Because of the way that the cleats are attached, it is impossible to walk comfortably in these shoes. They work if you carry them into the room and put them on before a workout. I was considering getting pedals for my bike, but won't as it would not be practical for commuting.

The Ugly:
The upper of the shoe is a cheap-looking faux leather. The straps are too long, and the bottom strap seems unnecessary. In a dark room, they look just like any other $100 pair though.

A Note:
I bought the Shimano SPD cleats with hardware and they did not work on these shoes without buying new screws. The included screws are too short, and I nearly stripped the threads in the shoes before going out to buy longer replacement screws ($1.20 for four from my local hardware store).

Overall, good entry-level spinning shoe. I would strongly suggest buying a spinning shoe for your workouts, and this is a nice solution if you're on a budget.

I was a bit hesitant after reading the previous review regarding attaching the cleats but I figured I could always get longer screws. My cleats (shimano SPD) attached easily, you can take out the insert and open a flap to hold the metal plate in place as you install the cleats.

The shoes are are good quality, the straps hold well and they're well ventilated. I'm very happy with the purchase.

I was looking for inexpensive shoes to wear to spin class because I wasn't getting the workout I thought I was with regular tennis shoes. So glad I bought these! They will last a long time because I only wear them inside. I took them to my local cycle shop and had them to put the cleats on them for $24. Well worth it. I ordered a size 41 because I wear an 8.5. Hope this helps.

I am not a cyclist. These are the first pair of cycling shoes I bought. I just wanted a cheap pair so I could use the stationary bike at my job. I had the same problem that others had with the cleats being very hard to put on. I was very close to returning the product, but then I read about that secret panel inside the shoe that you can remove and that helped me get them on. But the price is right. They work fine for me, now that the cleats are on.

Excellent shoes. The price was right and they have completely changed my spinning experience. I am a female size 11 and I bought these in a 43. The shipping took a few extra days but still it was worth the extra day or two of waiting.

Cons:
* Velcro straps are quite a bit longer than they need to be
* Smallest velcro strap is completely unnecessary
* Not light
* Cleats were quite difficult to get screwed in because of highly recessed holes. Use a lot of force.

Pros:
* Straps were easy to cut down to size, and I cut the smallest off.
* Inexpensive

I like these shoes a lot now that I managed to get the cleats in and the velcro straps cut down to size. Eventually I might try remove the tongue as well because it takes a few seconds to get these shoes on and in a triathlon I'd rather not have to mess with it. Professionals might want to find a carbon shoe but these are stiff and durable for everyone else.

I got size 44 for my US 11 feet and they fit perfectly.
