This material is a plastic resin; as well as the hardware. To avoid breaking the mounting screws, hand tighten each one onto the back of each number. Draw a solid level line on the surface where the numbers will go; include the distance apart you want them. Put lipstick on each screw end that's mounted on the back of the number...level each number at the top of the line, then push the screws against the surface to transfer the lipstick (pattern). Then drill your surface with a drill bit that is the same diameter as the screw. Use epoxy to fill the hole or 100% silicone, then immediately mount each number in it's place. This worked so well for me I just had to help others. This mounting screw is also sold in metal at the hardware or home improvement stores, but I would still install the numbers this way.

These address numbers are a great bargain compared to others of their type. They are hollow metal numbers with what very much looks to be brass plating, so if you are looking for heavy, solid brass numbers, these are not for you. That said, they are very easy to install, even if the instructions are slightly confusing (the three stems on each number do not screw into a wall surface, they are mounted into 1/4 holes in the wall surface filled with caulk or construction adhesive). One can mount the numbers as flush or floating. The only oddity with these was the purchase price of the "2" was well over twice that of the other numbers I bought. There is nothing exceptional about its construction, so I can only imagine it must be a "rare" number! Otherwise, highly recommended.

The numbers look nice, however the screws sheared off when we tried to hang them. Now we are left with holes in our siding and numbers that are impossible to hang unless we glue them to the siding.

These are very cheaply made. The first time my husband tried to screw it in, the first screw just broke in half right off the number. There is no way to replace it. Now we can only throw it away. Bummer.

Maybe this was a problem because we were trying to install it on brick?!?!

I was excited about the price when I ordered it. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for.

The numbers look great. The problem is that not one of the screw mounting holes on the back of the numbers is straight making installation very difficult. Not one of the mounting screws aligned with the template so I had to make my own. The template alignment was off no less than 1/4 inch on each number. Installation into concrete block was also difficult since each screw went off at a different angle making it hard to get all three into their holes. It took some pounding on the screws to help straighten them. It might not have been so difficult on wood because it's more forgiving.
