Directions
Feeding Guidelines: These guideline amounts are a starting point and your dog may need more food depending on age, activity and temperament. Have always fed Eukanuba to both my Great Danes and now Toy Poodle. It is an excellent food. This senior food has glucosamine and other nurtrients he needs as he is aging. Always ck with your vet or breeder if large boned dog.
They grow so fast that too much calcium etc in puppy food can be harmful.

Update 5/2014 - my toy poodle still eating and enjoying this food. Earlier in the year he was diagnosed with a very serious gallbladder problem. Along with his medications, he eats chicken breast and this kibble. That's it. He is happy with his diet. I feel confident this food is keeping him as healthy as possible.

This seems to be working well to keep my 13 lb Pomeranian healthy. He's nearly 8, so I wanted to try something that would work with older, less active dogs and I've been pleased with the results of this. The cost seems good to me, also, since the 4 pound packages you often find for small dogs are apt to cost much more per pound than this larger bag. Also, this bag will probably last him quite a while, so I won't have to worry with looking for more dog food every time I turn around.

All on all, I'm very pleased with this purchase, in spite of Sonny's complaint that someone as cute as he is should be having filet mignon three time a day. He has a hard life. ;-)

So, we've had this dog food for nearly a week now and it is a no go. The UPS guy brought just after our 10 year old dog had been given his dinner which he finished (for a change) and I put a large handful of this in his bowl and he ate it all, so at first it looked promising. Next day, as you are supposed to when switching foods we introduced it gradually by mixing it with his current food, he seemed to eat it okay, a little slower, not finishing it and coming back later to finish, then a couple days ago we tried a full bowl of just this and it sat and sat, so we added water hot dogs had been boiled in and eventually he ate it. Today, totally different story, this morning gave him his bowl full of this Eukanuba and he didn't eat so I poured water from boiling ravioli that had cheese that leaked out in it and he still didn't eat it, it sat all day, dinner time came and went, he whined all day begging for food, not eating what he had been given. Finally, before bed, I felt bad that he had gone hungry all day so I gave him the rest of the ravioli water which he gulped down and hoped it might make him want to eat his food, it didn't, so I poured his food into the empty ravoili pot and he ate half of it, then I mixed in some raw crumbles (Stella and Chewy's) and he finally ate it all. I think of all the foods we've tried this one has gone the worst. I think he can tell the difference with low fat and reduced calorie foods that are used for senior and less active dogs. Something that really bothered me about this food is that its main ingredient is chicken byproduct meal, not the most digestable for dogs and not a good choice. Not sure what to do with the left over food now :(

My babies are getting older, and I think maybe they need food for Seniors. My little boy is 11, and my little girl is 8 and a half. They have always eaten Eukanuba breed specific for Dachshunds and have always been very healthy. So, when it came time to consider senior food, Eukanuba was the logical choice. So far, they are doing great. We just have to wait and see.

While our dog would eat this dog food, it was clearly not her preferred food. First ingredient in this formula is chicken-by-product-meal, followed by corn meal and other grains. While better than the cheapest foods, which have a grain like corn or soy as a primary (1st) ingredient, it's not as healthy as a whole meat. The kibble is on the smaller size, making it easier to eat for smaller dogs. While the ingredients are not top pf the line, they do provide a balanced diet with noticeable maintenance of our dog's coat coming off very expensive food.

The first ingredient in this formula is chicken-by-product-meal, followed by corn meal and a few other grains. This is better than the cheapest foods - which have a grain like corn or soy as the first ingredient. But by product meal is not as healthy as a whole meat. The brand boasts glucosamine and chondroitin (which help joints), however they list the chicken by product meal as being the source - so they do not really add these nutrients which can help dogs with arthritis and other issues. The dog I tried this on did not like the taste and wouldn't eat it.

I really wanted my 10 yr. old dog to like this dog food, because it has so many good ingredients in it. I put it in a bowl and put it down for my dog, and all he did was sniff it and walk away. All he normally eats is either home made dog food or canned dog food. He won't really eat dry food. I was hoping he would like this, but so far he doesn't. I'm going to keep trying to get him to eat it. I will update if anything changes.
