There was a specific reason I bought this plug. The pics showed the screws on the side of the metal cover. I hoped ( and learned ) that I could removed the cover to make a cleaner mount under my fish tank. It worked exactly as I hoped it would. I was able to pull off the metal cover and attach the back / base directly to my stand. The screws are completely hidden inside the power strip. The plug spacing is good and everything worked perfectly right out of the box. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I had originally rated this item with one star because the "red" surge light remained on when plugged in. I have since re read the data sheet (this along with a phone call from the distributor) and find that the light remains on until you have a surge, at that time the light goes out. Guidance directions also indicates the protectors surge capability will only last 2 to 3 years after which the unit looses that capability. Directions in the data sheet also suggest not to mount to desk/furniture. I would guess this is due to the plastic base melting and causing a fire hazard. When mounting this I will place a metal under the unit. Thus the four star rating.

I am not sure if we got one that is broken, or if the workmanship on these is just shoddy, but this did not work even brand new out of the box. For one thing, when plugged into the wall, no power reached the items I had plugged into the strip. I assume that this was because the "serge" light was on, having been somehow triggered in manufacture or while on route to use. But, even more odd, there is no "Resistance" to hold the plugs in place. I can't explain this well, but most plugs, when they go into the socket, feel some "resistance" as they plug in. This makes them stay in place, even if you turn the strip upsidedown, or accidentally pull lightly on the cord. When you put plugs into THIS protector they go in without any resistance, and pull out with even the tiniest bit of force. I have to imagine we got one that is malfunctioning somehow, but I don't know for sure. So, either quality control is terrible, or the product is a lemon.

This 6-Outlet Metal Surge Protector by Coleman Cable is excellent. Having a lot of appliances in the kitchen I decided to use it there, especially since I usually have to unplug individual things when not in use. So far so good!

It isn't really much to look at, but the six plugs is great and being able to handle up to a 1000 joules surge is pretty good. What's also good is that I can just turn off the switch on the outlet to turn of all the appliances instead of unplugging them.

Lightning struck our house. I had two of these protectors. EVERY component plugged into them failed.
I called their customer service line to see how I could make a claim. Warranty on this item on Amazon says $100,000 protection for any items plugged in to this surge protector if it fails due to a power surge. Apparently, Woods manufacturer does not believe that should include being hit by lightning. Warranty does not cover lightning strikes.

There are a ton of these products on the market, and as far as I can tell, this one is just as good as the rest.

Wow! 1,000 joules! That’s like, what, like, uh, “the amount of electricity required to light a 1 watt LED for 1 second.” So, it has some protection against power surges, but it’s not like your precious flat-screen is going to survive a nuclear EMP or nearby lightning strike if plugged into this product. If you’re somewhere with a stable power grid (Western Hemisphere) you’ll be fine; if in a place with a less predictable power grid, better you invest in some more serious surge protection/voltage regulation hardware.

You get six fully grounded outlets total. Four are grouped together closely, all of 1/8” separating them, with the remaining to spaced out a bit more (1/2”) for a more bulky plug assembly. The six outlets have sliding covers, so that you can close them it not in use. They are not spring-loaded, but click into place.

The documentation is ample, with very, very tiny writing covering both sides of the 8 ½ x 11 page (one side English, the other Spanish). Most of it is the warranty information. But then again, a whole lot of instructions are not necessary for this product: plug it in, turn it on, and plug stuff into it.

It does have the nice feature that you can mount it to a wall, with the recesses in the back. As noted by a few other reviewers, you can screw the cover off and really make this thing secure, if you’d like.

For my use and tastes I'd like to see the cord be a good 10' long.

I’m using this now for my TV, soundbar, cable and other A/V products, and it’s handling the load just fine.

Price. The listed price seems fair, for how the product is constructed, what it’s designed to do, and how it performs.

Bottom line: For the price, this is a fine power bar.

This surge protector has a nice appearance, seems very durable, has sliding safety covers for the plug outlets, and two transformer outlets. The surge indicator light also is a plus. I think this is an excellent product.

There is also a detailed package insert that explains the connected equipment warranty protection.
