The bottles look fine, and I have no doubt that they will serve their function admirably if you should chose to purchase them. However, there's no good reason to purchase from Midwest Homebrewing Supplies when the shipping cost is more than the actual cost of the bottles. The shipping price prompted me to look locally where I was pleased to find that I can purchase the same bottles at the same price but skip shipping costs.

This is a good bottle for wine makers or mead makers. If you are trying to decide between colors I recommend you get this clear bottle so you can show off the color of your wine. Get yourself #9 corks for these bottles. #8 will work too but I prefer #9.

All bottles arrived completely intact. No chips, breaks, or cracks. There is a seam on the back, but that was mentioned and really isn't a big deal. There is however a "wave like" distortion in the glass towards the mid section of the bottle's body. That was not mentioned as far as I can tell. The good news is though, when filled most it's difficult to notice. You can still feel the distortion in your hands though.

The packaging was strange to me. It was a small box inside a large box setup that had air "packet" bubble wrap in the larger box. No real protection for the bottles in the smaller box. I need to double check and make sure nothing is broken, didnt get a chance to look at every single bottle before I had to leave.

I'm using these for Mead. I'm a first time brewer that felt like these bottles would be the go to bottles to have. As for the Seller, I have used them before. Most of the stuff I bought to get started I got from Midwest Homebrewing Supplies website, at the time I was not aware of their amazon market. I had a few hiccups in dealing with their homesite before hand, but it wasn't by any fault of theirs. inventory errors happen all the time. With that being said, if you're looking for brew supplies Midwest is a good place to look first.

Bottles were received quickly, look nice, and fit standard #8 & #9 corks. however, one of my bottles were completely smashed on arrival. I believe it is due to the bottles being packed into the box neck down. they are thin, so bouncing on a narrow neck would most likely kill them fairly effectively.

A cardboard spacer placed around the neck would probably help as well.

Very disappointed with the way they look with the ring around the middle. It throws my OCD into chaos. I wrote Home Brew Ohio and Mike replied with, "all of the Bordeaux bottles I have seen are all produced in 2 pieces." Now we know why the ring. I'm going to have to find a different source. I don't like these at all. :(

These bottles are very good for storing my home-brew wine. The bottles seem to be made as 2 pieces, so there is a "wave" of sorts about the middle of the bottle where the pieces were heated and attached.. so it seems. There are no other visible flaws and they work just as well as other wine bottles.
But for low cost storage of home brew wine, I can freely share my home made wine with neighbors and friends and I won't feel badly if I don't get the bottle back soon enough to bottle a new batch. These clear bottles are well suited for wines that should be enjoyed Young and will need a #8 cork which will keep the contents safe for roughly 18 months. I will be buying more of these.
