This little heater does the trick and keeps my bettas warm and comfortable. The only drawback is that there is no light to tell that it is on, and .. there is no way to control the temperature. They are preset to only get to one temperature and that's it! My bettas were swimming in water that I knew was way too cold for them, and after I purchased two of these heaters, one for each bowl, they seem much happier and are definitely more active in the bowl. The cord hanging on the bowl doesn't look great, but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep your loved one's happy! My bettas look healthier since warming up the water with these heaters and the product has worked great. I have owned it for a couple of months and have had no trouble. The water doesn't overheat and I have about a 1-1/2 gallon decorative bowl (one for each betta)set up with live plants and decorative colored stones. The heater works well -- I only wish I could control the temperature and that it had a light of some kind to tell me it is on and working -- now I have to place my hands on the glass or look at the thermometer to tell that it is on and doing its job. Just to have a little red light that I could glance at from across the room, telling me that the heater is on and working, would assure me that my fish are warm, instead of having to check the thermometer or feel the glass. I would recommend this product to a friend and a family member to purchase.

This heater is literally a glass test tube with a rubber cork. While cleaning my tank the cork came off and gave me (probably my fishes as well) a mild electric shock. It started smoking and releasing its contents into my tank. Examining the heater I found zero signs of any kind of adhesive on it to keep it sealed. This thing is poorly made and dangerous.

This is a constantly-on heater, so the temperature your aquarium reaches depends on its size and your room temperature. It must be used with a thermometer to make sure you don't over- or under- shoot your desired temp. If room temperature fluctuates, so will the tank's. (The packaging claims it is "preprogrammed" but in fact there is no program or any temperature control.) It is a compact and apparently well-made device and can easily fit into a small tank. So far I have had no problems with it. It is able to bring my 2 1/2 gal tank up to correct Betta temperature in a 73F room.

I thought this would be great for my tiny desk aquarium, but there is no off switch. So, when left on, the water temp went to 86 degrees. When off, it fell to 68 degrees. So, I purchased a timer. It has "teeth" every 1/2 hour that you can set to go on or off. So, I set the heater to go on and off for an hour at a time every 24 hours. This seemed to do the trick and the water temp is at a constant 80 degrees now. That's all you need to do for this product to perform perfectly!

I love the look and simplicity of these, and now have 4 of them for our several small tanks. We bought 7.5 watt, 15W and 30W versions, and put them in tanks of the appropriate size (1-6 gallons).
I've noticed that one tank near our radiator is running 82-83 degrees, so I put a lower wattage one in. Same thing, 82 degrees.
Apparently these are NOT "Pre-programmed" with a set temperature in any way. They're just always on.
This means that the will keep your coffee piping hot if you stick it in a small mug, or keep an aquarium sorta warm, depending on the size of the tank and the temperature of your house.
Since all the Heat Stik and Betta Stik heaters we bought all look identical, with no markings to show which is which, I bought a digital electrical meter today and measured them: 7.5W, 7.5W, 7.5W, 7.5W....
They're ALL THE SAME. So not only is the idea of a preset thermostatic control complete bunk, but they're packaging the same product as different things.

I bought this thinking it was "pre-set" as I was told to keep my Betta warm. I had this Betta for quite some time and was attempting to do the right thing. Over night my Betta died!! This thing cooked my Betta after I was told it would maintain the water at the right temperature! NOT a good buy...

I put this in my 3 gallon Betta tank. My fish is happy, the water is stable, but this little heater doesn't keep the water a stable temperature. My water consistently goes from 76-85 - which is fine, for a Betta, as long as it doesn't drop too fast - but I wish there was a way to maintain the temperature.

After unplugging my heat stick I proceeded to do a water change. My 5 gallon deep blue professional 5 gallon cube was running 86 degrees and making noises, it has been submerged and after I replaced some of the water the tube cracked and spoiled my tank and gravel, I have a planted freshwater betta aquatium and I did not appreciate that when I emailed them about the warranty they said it needed to be fully submerged and because I had no proof they dismissed me and the 40 dollar gravel, heater, and water supliments that insured. Thanks for nothing but go with a tetra, better product!
