We love this mantel. The 1st one we ordered had been damaged on the corner and we sent it back. The second one arrived shortly after. We noticed it is had been distressed slightly; so you might see man made pin holes in various locations around the mantel.

It was a a few inches too tall, so our contractor modified it by cutting it and making a band out of the scrap wood. We love it.

I wasn't sure what to expect.... as I had never made such a purchase before.
It was a really heavy package. Delivered to the door. Had to unpack it outside and bring individual pieces in.
As you can imagine, the better the wood the heavier it should be, and this did not disappoint.

I had to trim it a bit to fit it to my fireplace. All the hard work has paid off. The fireplace looks truly awesome.

This was way beyond my expectations.

PS: You need to be a bit handy to do the installation yourself...

I was very hesitant to order an expensive piece like this sight unseen. We had so much trouble finding mantels in brick and mortar stores, so we decided to take a chance. Well, we received this today and it is gorgeous! We bought it unfinished as we want to paint it white. The wood is chunky and sturdy, and the finish even before painting is wonderful. If you are hesitating, don't. Worth every penny.
