I have bought these Henry vacuums for over 20 years and they are great...In the UK. I have recently bought this vacuum here in the US and it's not as powerful and sounds like it is struggling to start. This might be because the motor is designed for 230V/50Hz but I don't honestly know. The cost is high. If you take the exchange rate as of today the Henry in the UK would cost $153.00. Profits have to be made but 100% is a bit too much especially if you are not getting what you know you should be getting. However, the company was quick at shipping and it works so I got what I ordered.

We first saw a Henry when cruising on a Holland America Line ship and noticed through the years that "Henry" was their vacuum cleaner of choice as we saw them on every ship of theirs we've sailed on. Of course, Henry's "face" is the first thing we noticed and initially thought that one of the stewards had decided to personalize his equipment by putting eyes and a mouth on the tank. Later we realized that this was the "look" of all Henry's. We were impressed that a cruise line which obviously is constantly vacuuming areas and is giving the product heavy usage liked it enough to have it on all their ships -- plus we noted that Henry was quiet -- no jet plane roar when he's operating -- just a very subdued (he's British you know) hum. A few months ago we bought a Henry and we love him. He is equipped with two speeds -- and we have yet to run him at the higher speed as the low speed provides plenty of suction -- plus he has numerous attachments so he can handle any job. He has a very long cord that winds up into the top of the cannister so there is no fighting with a cord to store after vacuuming. The hose is a very good length and he manuevers beautifully and allows us to vacuum under and behind even the lowest furniture. Henry has "friends" who you can also purchase and they are shown on the Amazon website. I highly recommend this product. For years, I have used Hoover uprights -- those days are over -- my little Henry is our vacuum of choice.

We love this vacuum cleaner. It does an excellent job and is so easy to pull around behind you. It has a very long hose and a very long cord which means that you can plug in and go from room to room without having to keep moving the plug to a new socket. It has a large bag which doesn't need to be changed very often. The only criticism I have, is that dog hair sticks to the brush head and is hard to remove. Other than that, we are totally happy with this product. We got around the dog hair issue by using the wand and wood floor attachment from our old Electrolux. The tube sizes are interchangeable-another plus for this machine.

We got a Henry after our old Eureka started showing its age after six years of reliable service. I'd just come back from a year in the UK, and our apartment had a Henry in it which I remembered quite liking, so I was pretty pleased when I saw that amazon was selling them and bought one. I have to say though I have mixed feelings for this vacuum after actually using it at home for awhile.

First, I was kind of unsettled to notice the plug isn't a three pronged grounded plug, like you might expect, but just a two pronged one. Admittedly, it hasn't caused any electrical problems so far, but it does result in the plug sometimes disconnecting as Henry follows you around, which is pretty annoying. Second, our house has high-pile carpet, and the lack of a rotating brush on the floor adapter means anything that is slightly caught in the fibers of the rug won't get picked up. There is a rotating brush head for the Henry out there, but you have to buy it from the UK, and shipping is ridiculous. Third, as one of the previous reviewers mentioned, the suction power seems to be a lot weaker here than over in the UK. I find myself switching to turbo mode pretty often, which seems kind of a shame since one of the reasons I liked Henry was that it was environmentally friendly.

There is still a lot to love about Henry though. It's easy to carry around and very very quiet. I can even vacuum while everyone is sleep and not wake up anyone. I also really love the long cord since it means i can drag it out into the driveway to clean up the cars without having to hunt around for an extension cord. And, although I do sometimes have issues with suction on enviro mode, turbo mode blows all the other vacuum cleaners I've ever used out of the water. Plus, Henry's cheerful smile is really charming, and I often find myself looking forward to cleaning up the house rather than dreading it.

We've had Henry for years- can't remember how many! He lives in a closet under the stairs in a small pub he is always eager to work every night.
Before we purchased Henry we'd have to buy a new vacuum every six months - no kidding!!
Money very well spent if you are tired of ...clogged hoses, loud motors and short cords!
As you see he is loved by the staff - our mascot- this pumpkin was carved by our cook and they've even made a piñata in is image!

We were in need of a small vacuum for our RV and tow vehicle. We tried the tiny Dyson canister first. We wouldn't have bought it if the shop didn't have a 30 day return even if used policy. So then we thought we'd buy the Henry as I had one back in the UK, and the suction was very powerful.

Used it for the first time yesterday, and even with the 'high' power button, it wasn't a patch on my UK one. Had to go over and over the same spot many times to get the bits up, and even then some bits I had to 'feed' it by hand.

I'm not sure if all vacuums in the US are a poor comparison to the ones we had in the UK, but it does seem that way.

Henry's cheerful face does make me smile though, so it has that going for it!
