No keyboards just the magic of Gottchings electric guitar, you can hear thousands of sounds from his 6 string gadget and unbelievably succesful. Even the guitar sequencers are pulsating. If you think these are just tape loops and sounds of like an electric saw that is a Fripp trademark, well you are mistaken, this is like baumann and schmoelling tangerine dream- heavy, angry and rocking!!

Spectacular. This is one CD of just space-guitar improvisation. It is not as bad as that sounds. This is simply very very beautiful and was very very ahead of its time.

The Krautrock and German electronic movements of the '70s made for an exciting time in popular music. This album, which is sort of a merger of these genres, wraps up just about everything notable about both of them in a nice 45 minute package. The first song, Echo Waves, consists of a series of hypnotic guitar-driven ostinatos which, like real waves, rise and fall in intensity. Manuel subtly and effortlessly varies the ostinatos at the just the right times so that the song always moves forward, and he caps it all off with some beautiful Post-rock-esque solo work. The second track, Quasarsphere, is a relaxing, improvisational interlude that gives the album room to breathe and is a nice relief from the first song's intensity. The final track, Pluralis, is a long slow burn of a song featuring a single ostinato that plays throughout. Accompanying the ostinato are atmospheric sounds which rise in ethereality and intensity as the song progresses. Near the end of the piece, there is a brief respite before Manuel sends you on your way with more of his excellent solo work. Overall, this is a solid album, but since it does not really push the envelope or step outside the boundaries of its genre, I would not call it a masterpiece. Also, considering the title, a bit more guitar solo work, my favorite part of the album, would have been nice. Still, I have to give credit to this album for inspiring me to dust off and play some of my favorite Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream albums again, not to mention for making me want to check out the rest of Manuel's solo albums and his work with Ash Ra Tempel.
