I purchased this item to work with Chamberlain WD962KEV Whisper Drive Garage Door Opener with MyQ Technology and Battery Backup. As that opener is MyQ and Security+ 2.0, this accessory works just fine. In contrast with the older generation of this accessory, this one communicates with the opener itself, and does not require a sensor unit to be mounted on the garage door frame. If you have the kind with the door sensors, these will not inter-operate. My opener claims that it can work with up to 8 MyQ accessories, so my assumption is that you can have more than one of these working (based on the capabilities of your opener). I only have one of these monitors, so I cannot say that for sure.

There are two lights that indicate the state of all of the garage door openers. If at least one is open, the red light blinks. If all are closed the green light is solid. Nice and simple. There is a button to close all the doors. My opener beeps and flashes the light just before the close happens when the button is pressed, so there is a chance to get out of the way and break the safety beam/press the button to stop the close process. There are also audible alerts, which can be set to off, low, medium, or high volumes. Three short beeps indicate a door is opening. A short beep that repeats every 30 seconds or so indicate one or more doors are open. Note that this accessory has a wall wart that is not pictured, so it must be placed close to an outlet. The wall wart plug sticks out of the rear of the unit. This works with up to 4 door openers, I am using it to monitor two. The thing does exactly what it says it will do.Read more ›

I purchased two of these monitors. In my particular case, the garage door is not visible from the two units in the building. As the manager of the building, I wanted tenants to have a way of knowing the door is closed. Programming the device takes less than a minute. Press the learn button located on the garage door opener that lifts/closes the door. Then press a button on the monitor and it is ready to work. You can unplug the unit and put in almost anywhere in your apartment. When the door is open the unit displays a red light and it beeps periodically. You can defeat or change the volume of the beep. Press the large close button on the monitor and the garage door will close and then display a green (door closed ) light. Before the door closes, the lights on the opener in the garage will flash and the unit will beep several times before the door begins to close. This alerts a person that may be in the garage that door is about to close. I was happy to find out that the unit has a considerable range. One unit is located on the second floor about two hundred feet from the garage and it works. When someone opens the door, the unit does beep to alert a person someone is entering the garage. Yes, there are other more sophisticated devices that allow a person to use a smart phone but this was a simply inexpensive solution. I am happy.

The product connected easily to my Sears Homelink system (Liftmaster makes all of Sears' Craftsman brand openers) and works well. Has an audible beep with an adjustable volume level and a bright LED light that changes colors to let you know if the door is open or closed. I have it on my nightstand next to the bed and love just being to glance over and know the garage is all closed up. Also has a close button on it so even if you forgot to close it, you can close it from there.

It works great as a monitor. I wish it would open the door as well but that isn't a feature it has. The only issue for me is that I would like to see separate alarms for "door is opening/closing" and "door is open." I keep the alarm muted because it beeps every minute or so when the door is open and that gets annoying after a while. But I would still like to have it alarm when the door position changes. Otherwise a great monitor.

Check my review history. I RARELY give any product 5 stars. But with my history in "life" I suddenly find myself with substantial hearing loss and a new Liftmaster 8550 garage door opener. Now our old Sears.Craftsman chain drive rattled the walls AND made enough noise for me to hear even without my new hearing aids on. This unit however, left me having a near heart attack every single time my wife popped in through our door....

I think at first she thought I was kidding around. I told her I was serious and was spending the $60.00 list price and NOT waiting around for her to kill me off with her not so humorous sudden and silent entries every night just about the time I had settled into my 3RD beer and thought everything was "just fine"! Then BAM....She always laughed, I always held my chest and swore if I could catch the old bat I would choke her.

Now? Well NOW, I wait behind that door she always appears from and thanks to this little PERFECT gizmo, I POP out from behind her and grab the old BAT and revenge is mine.... :-)
