I purchased this rock wall for my hermit crab tank and it looks great. The mounting clips that come with it are not enough...so I picked up some double sided foam tape squares. They did the trick. The rock wall looks realistic and my hermit crabs love climbing on it. The horizontal fit was perfect for my tank and I did not have to trim it. Vertically, the rock wall was about 3 inches shorter than my tank. Overall I am very pleased.

I bought this 3D background to give my lizards extra roaming room in their terrarium. Why waste the vertical space? They caught on right away and are frequently seen on the ledges incorporated in this background. I highly recommend it as beautiful, naturalistic, and giving more topographical room for the lizards in their terrarium. It's SO much nicer than those junky obviously painted styrofoam backgrounds which were the only thing you could get up to now.

The clips are pretty much useless if you only have a glass tank. However, duct tape works fine to keep it attached to glass. Bottom is not solid, and yes, there is a bottom. As I have a screen top, I can only have this background facing one direction, or else it will unbalance and fall, regardless of the tape. Unfortunate, as having it upside-down provides more room for my hideaway and other tunnels. And those five inches of depth DO make a difference.
Mine was only 23" long, instead of the advertised 24", which is still fine. Not recommended for 20-gal long tanks (which are 30" long) unless you don't mind having some extra room on the side for sunlight and a suction cup thermometer/barometer.
I had to change out my ball python's hideaway, since the other one I had was too large to fit with this background.
Background is hydrophobic, making it very easy to wash. It can hold in moisture by simple virtue of keeping it in little beads on the ledges until it evaporates.
My ball python loves having something rough to scrape up against and immediately started using the background as a pillow (he likes to sleep in odd positions).

Good product, but I suggest measuring your tank and the items inside to first make sure if it will fit.

I don't understand why others found this item to be so problematic. The shelves are situated perfectly and small lizards enjoy climbing on them; it would also look lovely in an aquarium for fish--tubing, etc. can be hidden behind. It's also very easy to install with the 2 little black hose sections they give--you just open them up and clip them on to either side. Duh! What could be easier! They hold the thing in place quite well with no need for silicone. And if you have a 20 gallon high tank as I do, you can still use the 24 x 12" background--simply position it at the top of the tank, clip at sides, and voila! A perfect fit. The substrate can be built up at the back of the tank a bit, or you can use plants, rocks, bark pieces, or whatever else looks natural for disguise on the bottom's few bare inches. A flat picture background just can't compare! I for one am simply thrilled with how nice my tank looks now, and my crested anoles seem pleased as well. And I guess that's all that really matters.

most of my disappointment lies in the fact that is supposed to have 3 shelves, it does not. there is no place to hang it. I came with two pieces of plastic that are supposed to hold on the back of a tank which Does not work.

If you don't have to cut it, the background is awesome. However, cutting it at all is not easy in the least. The uneven back makes it very hard to measure and the thick parts are incredibly hard to cut. Very brittle and breaks up way too easily.
