I purchased my Silhouette machine close to a year ago, and have had a ton of fun creating and crafting. The heat transfer starter kit is a must have. I have created cute bibs and cute onesies for my little one, and she always gets a ton of compliments.

After numerous material washes and re-wears by my active 2 year old, the heat transfer stays completely in tact and looks brand new! There is no "letter cracking" of any kind like you can sometimes see with shirts and sweatshirts you purchase at the store.

This is a must have product for your Silhouette!

Style Name: Stamping Starter Kit
Let me start by saying that this is a nice little kit and comes with 3 different sizes of stamping blocks that have the grids to help you get your stamps straight. It comes with three sheets of stamping material, a special stamp material mat, a silhouette ink pad in black, a download card for some exclusive stamping designs, and a DVD tutorial that leaves a little to be desired. When I ordered this I thought for some reason, that it would produce a carved stamp instead of just a cut out letter or shape, but it doesn't. So, if you cut out the word "stamp" and you don't weld it to make the letters connect, then you will have to line up each individual letter one by one and make sure you get them completely straight on your stamping block. This can be really tedious if you have small or a lot of letters. My cameo cut the stamping material the first time with no issues at all by simply following the tutorial, changing the mat to the one in the kit, and changing the blade setting to the recommended number. My letters were perfect and the ink included worked perfectly on card stock. I tried to use Staz On brand ink and it beaded up and wouldn't produce a clean image. I tried several times and it just would not work. The ink was brand new, so I'm thinking that the stamping material just won't soak it up properly. So, please keep that in mind when using this material. Overall, this is a great product. Just keep in mind that the machine is not carving the stamp out. You will have to position your stamp on the block every time you want to use it. Also remember to flip your words to be backward when the bottom of your stamp is facing you and to where it looks correct when you flip it over like you are going to stamp with it. Both sides of the material are the same, so you can use whichever side you want. There's no need to flip your word in the program. I'm posting some pics to show my results. I hope this helps.

Glass etching is easy and fun! The idea is to apply a vinyl stencil to a piece of glass; the exposed glass is then attacked by an acid cream producing the frosted effect.
The kit contains a small jar of etching cream, 3 feet of vinyl stencil and 3 feet of transfer tape, a Silhouette hook tool, a Silhouette scraper tool, a download card for 10 designs, and a DVD with a short instructional video.

Conspicuously and unforgivably absent are a pair of protective nitrile or neoprene gloves. I think Silhouette may be concerned about scaring away hobbyists and is downplaying the nastiness of the etching "cream": this is pretty serious stuff and you should treat it extremely carefully, always wearing goggles, long sleeves and pants, and preferably work outside. Any drop will permanently damage floor tiles, countertops, glasses (obviously) within seconds, as well as cause skin burns.

Unfortunately for my first project the etching cream had somewhat separated and when I went to pour it onto the glass as shown in the video, fluid poured out and etched unprotected parts of my glass (good thing it was a dollar store special!). I would have liked to have been forewarned and some advice as to how to stir the cream into ideal consistency would be nice -- even better, include a stirring tool.

You can get the contents of this kit for significantly less than the price of the kit, so it's not a very good value; but if you want to learn the basics of glass etching it's an affordable one-stop-shop way of doing so. I would give it five stars for fun and learning value but it loses one star for the insufficient warnings and lack of gloves in the package.

It is exactly what it says, a starter pack for vinyl work "...if you've wanted to create vinyl art and haven't known where to start, this is the place"

I will review the box contents below:

The box contains:

A) 4 sheets of premium vinyl (9-inch by 24-inch of black, white, dark pink, leaf green): it would have been nice if it had more lengthy samples, but then again it's a starter pack.
B) 10-feet of premium transfer paper: nice to have for future projects as well
C) Silhouette hook & Silhouette scraper: These are pretty handy tools when working with vinyl, the hook will help you get those "negative" vinyl out of the way before applying transfer paper. And the scrapper helps you have the vinyl in its right place without air bubbles, it's not exceptionally required though as you can use any credit card like card for the same purpose, it's nice to have though :)
D) Exclusive download card good for 10 vinyl designs: This one entitles you to download 10 free vinyl designs, with text messages, house shape, frame shapes, a train, a tree branch and a couple more..
E) Idea booklet: This is a couple f pages that gives you the general idea, but you can find more resources online
F) The instructional DVD: This is simply a video on how to start :)

Over all, I'd say it's a good starter pack, would have been nice though if it was a little cheaper, and had more lengthy samples, thus the four stars :)
