DOG: I noticed my bed is missing. I am very grouchy from lack of comfortable rest.
MAN: I threw out your bed. It made my room smell like dog butt.
DOG: I know! I consider that smell to be one of my greatest works. and I hate you, please order me a new bed or I will jump in yours and poop everywhere.
----a few days later----
DOG: I saw this gigantic box by the door and decided to attack it in case it was a monster. After several bites and shredding of the box I have determined it is not a threat.
MAN: Thanks, your new dog bed is in the box by the way.
DOG: You bought me a new dog bed? I was getting used to sleeping on the guest bed and making it smell like my butt.
MAN: You know you're the only one who likes that smell.
DOG: My butt smell brings all the dogs to the yard, and they're like, its better than yours....
*MAN spends some time assembling the bed. He finds one gigantic pillow folded into three sections and a slip cover. He notes the pillow goes in fairly easy and recommends others leave 1/3 of the pillow still folded over and push the pillow in the cover, then unfold the rest of the pillow once its in the cover.*
DOG: who are you talking to? do they have bacon? Anyways, The pillow was a little lumpy at first but it seemed to flatten out eventually. This bed is comfy by the way and I like the fluffy material on top. It reminds me of bird feathers. I imagine the feathers are from all the birds I have slain and I keep them here on my bed as a comfortable and functional trophy.

Absolutely no problem with the inside part of this being sort of 3 sections that go together to form one. Not a big deal. The cover seems to be really top quality. Was very impressed when it arrived. Super soft and well made. I haven't tried machine washing yet, maybe I'll update this when I do. I uploaded a pic too, my dog is 55 lbs and takes up a little over half of this bed. In the background is a king size bed for reference. She's slept on it about 2 weeks and hasn't flattened it out at all yet. My only complaint is that because one side of the inner pillow is waterproof, it is very crinkly! During the day it's no big deal, but the bed is in my room, and at night it does wake me up when my dog rustles around on there. So, light sleepers beware. The dog loves it.

I opened the package laid it down and my 120 lb. German Shepherd crawled right on top of it without prompting - as if he knew it was his. We live in a loft and have both concrete or hardwood floors so I worry about his hips since he's getting older - but he is so picky about his beds.
I have purchased seven beds in the last two years and ended up giving away/returning 6 of them because he wouldn't sleep on them. He would literally drag the them out of his "space" - I guess it was his way of telling me he didn't like them.The memory foam ones were 5 times the price of this bed but he grabbed his ball and crawled right on it - no problem. I would like to have had a larger option but he likes to curl up and has shunned larger beds before - God only know's why.
It's seems to be of decent quality, no weird smells, and handsome. The dark brown side seems water proof and when its rainy or slushy, i can reverse it and let him lay on it. Its prettier in person with mocha, caramel color as opposed to the muted brown in the pic Amazon provides - I like nice things and was concerned this would by ugly and dull but was pleasantly surprised.
If he continues to use the AND it holds up over multiple washes, I will give it 5 stars and buy 5 more. If it doesn't, I will come back and update my review.
I included a pic so that those who have giant breeds like mine can see how it will fit your furry family member.
