I recently purchased this to replace my Sunbeam heated mattress pad that died and I love it. With the Sunbeam I had to turn up to high in order to even be able to feel the warmth. So far, I have not turned this up past 4. Great product!

UPDATE: we have used this for just over a year and last night I noticed my side of the bed was extra warm. I immediately turned it off and when I got up this morning I looked a bit closer. The cord connecting the controller is MELTED!!!!! I am so glad I felt it getting warm and it did not start a fire!

I did my homework before purchasing this mattress pad. I read every single review for every single pad out there (and not just on this website).

Pros:
--consistent heat throughout pad
--cannot feel the wires (and I've tried!)
--multiple heat settings (low, 1-9 and high--really, who needs that many choices?)
--no buzzing sound from power source (in fact, you just plug it into your outlet)
--good price

Cons:
--takes a long time to heat up (when I turn it on high, it takes about 20 minutes to come to full heat)
--this pad is HOT...I usually turn it on high to "preheat" the bed, then turn it off before I fall asleep. Otherwise I wake up covered in sweat. Even on low it's hard to keep it on all night. Then again, I don't live in the artic north.

Overall this is a great pad and I'm very happy with my purchase. I'd recommend this to anyone!

Years ago I had a bed pad that heated up rapidly and was HOT! Unfortunately, it finally gave out so I replaced it with a new one that was SUPPOSED to do the same. The industry apparently had problems with bed pads overheating and so revised (read: lowered)the standards and so it was impossible to find a good one...including the one I had bought. Now comes the Serta and it is not powered by Ac but rather powered by DC. This makes it VERY safe and, much to my surprise, it not only heats up rapidly, but is wonderfully HOT which is great for the NH winters. I don't know how they do it with DC power but I don't care. A plus is it actually uses much less electricity than the previous AC models. Great all around and I gladly give this one five stars.

I really wanted to like this, but I had to send it back because the adapter that converts AC current to DC makes such an annoying sound it prevents sleep. Since sleep is the point, this product is a FAIL.

I purchased the Serta Damask Stripe 233-Thread Count Low-Voltage in 2011 and it worked great until this week. While making my bed this morning I noticed the sheet was discolored brown, after closer inspection the wire leading into the connector was charred black.

First-time owner of any type of heated bedding for use with my memory foam mattress; if you own memory foam of any kind you know how COLD it gets during the winter months!! After reading about the different choices, I opted for the heated pad vs. the blanket ... and I'm not disappointed with my pick!! I purchased this Serta Damask Heated Mattress Pad a month ago because of the name, and claim this pad would have ultra-thin wires, automatic temperature and over-temperature protection, and a soft shell. I didn't consider the separate heat and control zones and automatic shut off while shopping, but they work well. I had to find a wire the first night I used it, and you practically have to pinch the pad to find them! The heat controls operate from a range of LO, then 1 through 9 and HI, for a total of eleven temperature settings. I set it to HI about 30-minutes before bed, hop in and turn down to 1 (one). On 2 (two) I got too warm, but believe I'm be cranking the temp up during the colder months, and I'm confident it will keep me toasty!! One big side effect; I find I fall asleep way faster because I am not shivering for 10+ minutes, haha!!

My husband easily gets cold during sleep so we decided to buy (well replace the old one we had) another electric mattress pad for this winter (2011). I can't remember the manufacturer of the 1st one we bought, but this one is a LOT better... more even heat, warms up fairly quickly and I don't feel any of the wires of the pad while laying/sleeping on it. The old one always had the heat down at the feet and not much anywhere else. Plus the heat seemed to "come and go".

I am usually the one not wanting/needing heat during sleep (menopause can do that to you). But I can't deny that having the setting on "LO" (for low) was rather nice and I could actually handle it and not get too hot during the night.

I highly recommend this product for those looking to purchase an electric mattress pad.
