I had missed my favorite cake since being told I had to go Gluten Free 3 years ago. Then I found Kinnikinnick Angel Food Cake Mix. I love this mix and my friends who are not Gluten Free also say it's wonderful. I can now have my favorite cake for my birthday as I have for many years. But I enjoy it many other times of the year too. This mix requires a lot of egg whites but I use the liquid egg white you can buy in a carton at the grocery store. It is a bit expensive that way but worth every penny when you take that first bit and enjoy the great taste. I use it as my base for Strawberry short cake but it's great with any icing or just plain.

Love this cake! It comes with two recipes on the box, one for the angel food cake and one for poppy seed cake. Today I made the angle food recipe. As other reviewers have stated, it takes 12 egg whites. Instead of wasting that many eggs, I used a 16 oz container of liquid egg whites that I got in the dairy section of my local grocery store. It came out fabulous, no grit, no after-taste. Can't wait to serve it with some in season fruit.

This tasted just like a home made ANGLE FOOD cake. I don't think I could have made it better. Excellent for a box mix and not one person guessed it was gluten free, taste nor texture. Better than any non GF boxed ANGLE FOOD cake my family ever tasted! It calls for a smaller than avg. tube pan, however, I then had enough batter to fill and bake a small bread pan full.

The flavor is pretty close to 'right.' I bought a mix because I didn't want to use 12 egg whites, as is necessary when baking from scratch. Unfortunately, the mix calls for 12 egg whites! And you have to sift the box ingredients prior to using them. So using the mix doesn't save much time at all. I made a mix and a scratch on the same day. The mix was slightly lighter than the scratch.

I wasn't sure angel food cake and gluten free went together. I have never made an angel food cake and this one came out great. Even put some in the freezer and when thawed, was still very good.

It really didn't quite match a home-made cake but it was fairly good. It came out a bit grain-y. The problem is that it calls for a 9" bundt pan. You don't bake angel food cake in a bundt pan. And they don't make 9" bundt nor tube pans that I can tell.

Also, I happen to know that you don't grease a pan for angel food cake, but there are no instructions on the box about that. I used a 10" tube pan and then was just guessing about the baking time. The rating is about the company's lack of intelligent instructions.

Since there were three in this pack, I'll try another of the cake recipes on the box and probably won't make the angel food cake again.

Got these for my daughter and granddaughters who need gluten free. They miss treats like this. Sometimes you try a brand and it is bad-these were very good. I was told they were close to the homemade cakes I've always made.

I agree with all those who voiced their opinion about it not being completely done on the inside, I wanted to try this GF box cake, I didn't mind the dozen egg whites because I purchased egg whites separately, but as a bakery/pastry chef, I don't recommend this product, I increased the cooking time by 5 min and it was not completely done on the inside, waste of money and waste of two other boxes
