I LOVED this blanket when i got it. Since getting one as a Xmas gift I've loved electric blankets and this one was the best ever. It's very soft and more flexible than a traditional electric blanket. It worked well for about 11 months. I've never had a problem with Biddeford breaking unlike Sunbeam. At the end it wouldn't heat up unless I unplugged then replugged the cord at the base of the blanket. Annoying but the there was no piling since it's microfiber and that's the only reason I replaced my old Biddeford blankets.

11 months old the plug at the base of the blanket caught fire. Luckily I was there when it happened and the plug was raised off the ground and not in contact with anything. I reacted by blowing it out and it reignited. I repeated blowing it out 3x before I could turn it off. Multiple emails to Biddeford (pictures of the burnt cord included) were never returned. I also purchased a second blanket for my husband before there were any problems with the old one. A week or two before the other one caught fire (and the blanket being less than 2 months old) I stepped on a portion of it that was on the floor and felt a shock go through my leg. I checked my foot and had a 1" black barb from the blanket embedded into my big toe. It was easy to remove but I will never purchase another Biddeford blanket.

I bought this blanket for my parents for Christmas. At first, they absolutely loved it. It was nice and warm and gave them a good night's sleep. Then, it stopped working. It worked very nicely for a total of 3 weeks before it died on us, and we took good care of it! We were careful to not get the cords tangled, we didn't put any heavy objects on top of the blankets, and we did not use it for more than 1 hour every night. I'd rather find another blanket that has a lifespan of more than a month.

This blanket is soft and warm. But beware, if you have any problems and try to contact Biddeford, you will be ignored. I have called Customer Service several times but only get an answering machine and never get a call back. I would not buy another Biddeford product.

I guess you get what you pay for, got it cheap and broke down after only a couple months. Started sparking before it died completely, was a little frightened that it was going to catch fire!

I would give this blanket no stars if I could and here is why. The blanket when arrived looks so nice in the plastic blanket holder but when you take it out of the plastic and spread this blanket out, it is so thin that you can see the wires through the blanket. So, to be fair, I washed it as instructed by the label then dried it on my table with a fan though it does say you can wash on delicate and low dry in a dryer, because of the thinning blanket and wires I did not dry in the dryer as this blanket lacks blanket thickness to begin with. A day later still trying to like it with it's potatoe chip apperance, I put it on my bed for a check of the wiring, the control set very high at 7, later went to check on the blanket and barely warm to where you can't decide if it is warm or your hands are just getting a blanket on them. I would not recommend this blanket. I am sorry to the company that made this blanket as I would be ashamed to send it to anyone that would give it a review. And I will try to send it back.

Our previous Biddeford blanket worked very well for about a year, then one side simply stopped heating. I assumed it was a fluke and made a point of ordering a new Biddeford, based on bad experiences with recent Sunbeam products.
Probably a mistake. We received the wrong color (not a big deal, but not what we ordered), and the heat, compared to our old blanket, is almost imperceptible. It will come on for a few minutes, then swing way down, then wake me up in the middle of the night going full bore. And this morning when I reached over to turn off my wife's control on our queen blanket, the switch jammed and wouldn't move. I was able to free it by turning the control upside down and shaking it, apparently dislodging something loose inside, but seriously....

I used this blanket for exactly last winter, turning it on about 1/2 hour a nite, that's all. I started using it again about 3 weeks ago,, for not even 20 minutes most nights Last night I turned it on and it begin to smell like it was burning and it did shut itself off and now its dead.Great,, how nice to spend 53.00 dollars on a blanket to use one winter and have it burn out with minimum usage.Would never buy from this company again, and amazon isn't able to take an email in regards to this matter. Not a good investment. never again.

FIRE! I bought this for a young girl and was shocked to recently hear it caught fire while she was sleeping. Thank goodness she is okay! I can't get anyone to answer the customer service number. Not that I want a replacement--but I want to be sure everyone knows these products can be life threatening.
