3.0 out of 5 stars Not all there December 27, 2011
This is a great idea. I couldn't wait to try it when I got my renewal for my print 7-day subscription, which was going to cost me $250 per year. At $6.99/month, the Kindle edition clocks in at less than $84 for a full year. With just a few days left on my paper edition, I decided to sign up for the 14-day free trial to compare them side by side. They are not the same. I compared the 12/27/2011 edition. Several of the small articles in the City region page were skipped. Some photos were skipped. There are no classifieds, no obituaries, and no comics. Without these three, it's just the TV news in print with no video. The lack of these three items alone is enough to keep me from continuing the Kindle Edition. If I continued it, I would always be wondering if I was getting all of the news. I see no reason classifieds, obits and comics couldn't be included. Obits are just text and a few headshots. The comics are small in the print edition anyway, and they're black and white except for weekends. And to not include "Real Life Adventures", the best comic on the planet, is just a travesty. I'll check back occaisionally, but until they make these fixes, I won't be a Kindle Herald-Leader subscriber. Thanks for reading.

The content of the articles seems to be the same as the regular paper version. None of the local advertisements. Some of the comics are missing on random days. Includes content that is missing from the paper's free online version. But I got this subscription mainly to read the articles and keep up to date without the hassle of paper delivery. It is good for this purpose. My main complaint is with the Amazon Kindle apps used to browse the paper. They have gotten better on iOS with the past few updates. But it loses place sometimes and can be just a bit difficult to get back to the list of articles. Just a little annoying, but not a deal breaker. I think they'll improve this navigation with some later updates.

I guess I don't understand enewspapers. There won't be any electronic replacement for the paper we purchase at the newsstand. The articles are good for reading again.. but the internet and tv media usually have this information to us seconds after it occurs.
Drudge tries to post links to newpaper web sites which I prefer...

I would suggest you duplicate the paper completely and allow us one day to read or take from it and then post the next days.. ads and all... people have different taste and interest in news papers... so give us it entirely.. for instance.. I look at the classified ads to see if there is something there that interest me... I don't know what category... like a flee market.. I go and come home with stuff I never thought about.. so let the paper be a place of discovery as well as information on domestic life, etc enough said..

4.0 out of 5 stars Well done, one disappointment November 19, 2011
Since a free 14 day trail was offered I decided to give it a try. It is well laid out, easy to navigate and a joy to read. I don't have WiFi at work, so it's great that it can be downloaded. The only bad part is the comics are missing. With that, it would have been 5 stars. There are no ads either, so that is really a mixed blessing. I think I will buy it after the free trial ends.

The Kindle edition is almost as good as the paper copy. The Kindle version is better than the H-L e-edition and much more user friendly. Only thing missing is the comics. If they had the comics it would rate 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought it would be. January 7, 2014
When I got my kindle for Christmas I decided to drop my subscription to the Lexington Herald-Leader because it was so much cheaper and my paper person never did put it in the mailbox so I had a lot of papers I couldn't read.

Well I thought it would be everything that I was used to reading and the obituaries is not in there and most of the business section isn't either. So may not take it out much longer.
