This purchase was for my 91-year-old husband who is deaf in one ear. It's important to keep his "good" ear clear of wax, and he's had the wax removed at the doctor's office a couple of times. This Elephant Ear Basin is shaped just like the one they used at the doctor's office, and I found an Ear Wax Removal Syringe on amazon.com, so I purchased both.

The Basin is a little smaller and quite a bit lighter than the one at the doctor's office, but it is perfectly adequate for catching the flow from the ear while using the syringe. Another reviewer complained that you need two hands to hold it. I just have my husband hold it while I operate the syringe, and it works just fine. I'm quite satisfied with this purchase.

I bought this for use with the elephant ear washer, not realizing I'd need 2 hands for the ear washer itself. So unless you have another set of hands, save yourself some money, and just use the ear washer over the sink.

I bought this in conjuction with the elephant ear washer bottle system by the same brand.

I bought this because this is EXACTLY what they use at my docs office and than bill my insurance under "surgery". O_O

I made note of the spray bottle before I left, checked it on Amazon, and sure enough, there it was along with this ear basin.

I have small ear canals so I am told and they have a habit of blocking up every 6 months or so. This would warranty a trip to my primary care physician or an ear / nose / throat doc. That gets old (and expensive). I have only used this once since I bought it in 2014 but the once I used it was all I needed. I had gotten to the point where I could not hear. I filled the bottle with a mixture of a little bit of peroxide and mostly warm water and used the bottle as directed. I than used THIS basin to catch all the yuckiness.

The verdict was? It works. The price of the bottle is less than my PCP copay and now I can use it over and over again. The basin has the perfect shape and weight to catch what it needs to catch. Good product.

In fact, it did a perfect job of capturing all the liquid and solid matter that I flushed from the ear and kept it from going onto the floor or down my neck. I purchased this along with the Elephant ear spray as a recommendation from my pediatric doctor for one of my children.
The shape helps to ensure that any liquids that come out of the ear are caught in the bowl.
As others have said you will have to have an extra set of hands to use this, but I have asked my "patients" to hold it while I operate the Elephant sprayer.
My biggest complaint is the capacity. You will have to empty this bowl out at least twice per bottle. I just wish it was a little bit bigger.
Prior to using this I have used regular bowl just just as much success but my "patients" often grew tired of holding the heavier bowls or would occasionally move it to where it wouldn't catch the discharge.
My next complaint is the price. I felt it a couple of dollars more expensive that what it's worth.
Even with those two things, I continue to use this product regularly and I have no reason to think it will fail or cause problems in the future.
