I was about to subscribe to a monthly shipment of these treat since my dogs love them so much but as I was writing this review, I saw the word "animal digest" in the ingredients.

If your wondering what "animal digest" is, like I was, here's what I found per AAFCO (The Assoc of Animal Feed Control); A cooked-down broth made from unspecified parts of unspecified animals. Any kind of animal can be included: "4-D animals" (dead, diseased, disabled, or dying prior to slaughter), goats, pigs, horses, RATS, roadkill, restaurant and supermarket refuse, and even animals EUTHANIZED at SHELTERS (including DOGS!!) Surprising how many pet products use "animal digest".

These are the top 9 ingredients listed on the package; beefhide, oats, brown rice, maltodextrins, rye flour, sugar gelatin, wheat flour, corn starch, animal digest.

I'd give this product 5 stars and pay twice as much if they would use something safer than animal digest.

Please be careful. Google search this product and read of some of the dangers before giving to your pets. Busy Bone received so many positive marks on Amazon that I was surprised to see that this product was causing problems when I Google searched it. I read the stories and was very cautious to only give my dog one of these bones to chew on for about 15 minutes when I first opened the package. Sure enough within 4 hours she was vomiting uncontrollably. We have owned her for several months and she has never been sick prior. The stories on Google talk of dogs eating the treats and then having serious problems including some having to be put down. I'm not sure if our experience was coincidence or not but I'm glad I read up first and only allowed her a little bit of this product. Her symptoms followed the path that was exactly as posted on the warning reviews for this product. I'm throwing the package away today. This product is only for dogs 1 year or older. Do not feed to puppies.

I bought these for our mini poodle for Christmas because they were made in the USA and the reviews were good. When we gave her the first bone she loved it and we saw no side effects. BUT a week later when we gave her another one she she threw up busy bone colored stuff and was sick to her stomach afterwards. She almost never gets sick or throws up so we are sure it was this product. Upon further research Google: "Busy Bone throwing up" or even the one or two star reviews on Amazon of similar products have reports of dogs throwing up, getting digestive infections, and one poor dog eventually dying after being fed one of these treats. The ingredients inside are unnatural and can cause serious side effects. We will never give our poodle another one of these things again. Gave one to my dog and 36 hours later my dog died. My dog was perfectly healthy and only 4 years old and the vet could not find a cause for her death. There is no proof that this was the cause but I will never take that chance again. There are lots of reports online of people that have had dogs get very sick or die after giving them these and other Purina products.

I bought one of these bones for my lab/shepard mix, 65 pound dog, and she loved it. I bought the first one from Petco and the large size was 8 dollars. Amazon is over 50% cheaper and there is free shipping. Before committing to 8 bones, you can do what I did and head on over to your local pet shop to see if they carry these bones and then see if your dog likes them. It takes my lab about 1 hour to eat the whole bone. I really like that it breaks into small pieces which eliminates my worries about my dog choking on a big piece of bone.

My dog loves these and I thought I'd buy a supply from Amazon. I ordered three bags. The first bag I opened was fine but the other two were old looking and they had an odor to them. My dog smelled them and walked away. She wouldn't touch them. I picked up a small package of three from the store and they were fine. She took them no problem. Even though the product didn't seem to be out of date, the quality was definitely lacking. I won't order these from Amazon again, especially since the price is almost the same as in the store ($8.99 for a package of 9).

We give each dog a busy each morning. They race to their "spots" and wait for these bones. Made a mistake of waiting for my wife one day and she fell back asleep. The dogs sat there for 45 minutes, just waiting. They love these bones that much.

Whenever I need our Jack Russell Terrier to calm down for a while, these are a sure fire bet.
