a difficult subject to deal with is addressed in a straightforward way. It shows the effects of child sexual abuse in a very personal way and also the difficult, but successful, road to recovery. It is not an easy read when the author brings you into his very personal pain over a long period of time in his life and it can be an emotional journey for those who have had to deal with similar issues. Well worth reading as it shows how the author eventually overcomes the chains of abuse and the control of his abuser.

"Sexual Abuse."' The Boy Scouts, the Church and Penn State have made those words, along with pedophilia, much too common in today's society, nevertheless a real headline grabber.. Matt Lowe's excellent auto-biographical book has none of the front page scandals, but has given a very insightful and personal touch to a seldom discussed subject. At least discussed in personal, real life experiences. His first person account forcefully brings the reader along on a forty plus year journey that began innocently enough at age five, with a not so innocent pedophile friend, It's too painfully obvious that the abuse he experienced as a child and adolescent had long lasting and far reaching consequences. Family dynamics, relationships, self loathing and all the baggage of the abuse would never satisfactorily be resoled. Titillating explicit details are seldom used, but enough to make it clear this is a serious violation of a young person. A hard subject to read about, but easy to read and very well written.
