Reduces Material Usage by Eliminating the Need for Traditional Mixing Cups and Paint Strainers
3M PPS Standard/Large Lids 'only' contains 25 disposable Lids with pre-welded micron filters for straining paint and 10 sealing plugs for use with the 3M Paint Preparation System (PPS). The case will either contain 125 micron filters which are often recommended for water-borne paint materials; or 200 micron filters for traditional solvent-based paint materials. Always reference the Paint Manufacturer to ensure the recommended filter to strain the paint material. The PPS Standard Lids allows technicians to mix graduated measurements of up to 22 fluid ounce (650 milliliters) when used with a mix ratio film insert or by weight scale. Standard Size PPS is ideal for 3 panel repairs. Mix ratio film inserts sold separately. The PPS Large Lids allows technicians to mix graduated measurements of up to 28 fluid ounce (850 milliliters) and is ideal for 4+panel repairs. The Lids 'only' can be used with 3M Standard Size Cup and Collar part number 16001 or the 3M Large Size Cup and Collar part number 16023.
PPS is a all-in-one disposable painting system that produces cleaner jobs, saves on paint consumption, reduces solvent usage by up to 70 percent, and improves the operator’s efficiency by up to 50 percent between the prep (mixing, measuring, and filtering) and clean-up time (time associated with cleaning the paint reservoir and spray gun). PPS is faster, easier, cleaning and an overall cost saving solution.
PPS Eliminates the Need for Traditional Mixing Cups and Filters.
Conventional Paint Cup Systems, a Painter needs to mix paint materials in a separate cup, then transfer (or strain) the paint through a filter into a paint reservoir. Every time the Painter transfers paint material, there is waste associated in the mixing cup and filter. With PPS, place PPS’s disposable liner within the re-usable PPS Cup. Then simply mix the paint material in PPS’s disposable liner, snap-in place the disposable lid (with the pre-welded-in filter), and attach the locking collar to complete the PPS System and you are ready to spray.
After spraying the Painter has a choice of using a sealing plug to temporary store non-catalyzed paint materials or clean-up. Since the liner, lid and built-in filter are all disposable, leaving only the adapter and spray gun to be cleaned. Simply throw the disposable lid and liner in the appropriate approved waste containers specified by the Paint Manufacturers (or local government requirements) and use a small amount of solvent required for cleaning the spray gun and the PPSTM adapter. It is possible to clean your paint gun with as little as 3 fluid ounces (90 milliliters) of solvent. With this disposable paint system, shops are often experiencing a 70% reduction in cleaning solvents, which also means cleaning solvent savings, solvent disposal savings, and less operator exposure to solvents, along with a reduction in VOCs.
PPS System can be Used with Virtually any Spray Gun
Specifically designed PPS stainless steel metal adapters allow painters to use the PPS system with virtually any spray gun. Painters can also use the 3M Accuspray replaceable atomizing head spray guns to further reduce solvent use and spray gun cleaning and maintenance time.
Since the Painter uses a new disposable lid (with welded-in filter) and disposable liner for each mix, there is less risk of outside contamination, and less time spent mixing, filtering, and clean up, often improving productivity in prep and clean-up time by as much as 50 percent.
With PPS, your spray gun functions at any angle, even upside down.
PPS enables the Painter the ability to spray consistently 90 degree to the part, no matter the part orientation (even upside down). This not only improves consistent material transfer, which improves quality, but also reduces paint overspray, and improves paint consumption. Many painters mix more paint than they need to reduce the chance of starving the gun, and account for waste associated with overspray. PPS allows painters to spray at any angle without starving the paint gun and reducing overspray.
