I've used a few cheapo styli from the office supply but the tips pop off and never go back on. I've tried the stylus with the plastic tip, but the clicking noise is irritating.

The bamboo stylus has a finer than normal point that is responsive and moves smoothly across the screen. It does a better job at fine detail than your finger or the other styli I've tried. I'm a frequent drawer, not that I'm particularly good, and I never use my finger to draw now.

The weight is good and the length is nice for smallish hands. It feels as if there is a soft spring or something else inside the tip that gives subtle feedback. I love this feature.

My main complaint is that the screw top, where you can remove the pocket clip, comes loose with use. Then I start playing with it. I'm sure I'm going to lose this piece eventually. Also, my metal end came unglued. This was easily fixed, but that still sucks.

I don't think you'll be sorry. There are styli that are 2-3 times more expensive that aren't half as productive.

I bought this stylus to match my iPad case and I love it! I had been playing with my new app Bamboo Paper with other stylus types, but when this came in I used it to write real notes at a meeting. It worked fantastically! I was writing fairly fast and there were no skips. I noticed that it didn't come with a warranty, though, as other styluses I have purchased. I'm wondering how long the tip will last without abuse. Knowing I can buy a replacement is good, I suppose. We'll see how long it takes.

Returning six months later to change this review from 4 to 5 stars... I have been using many and varied stylus' and I must say that this is by far my favorite. Also - I have not had any trouble with my initial tip. I still love it, love it, love it!

I'm late to the party when it comes to using a stylus with my iPad, but I'm on a mission to eliminate as much paper from my productivity process as I can. Having read so many excellent reviews of the Bamboo Solo stylus, I ordered one to use with the Goodreader app—and what a difference this has made!

Now I make detailed revision notes in Goodreader with the Bamboo stylus, save out the annotated PDF and open it in a split-screen in Scrivener to make the changes to the manuscript. I've also had fun making a few drawings—they're terrible, but that's due to my non-existent artistic ability, not any failing on the part of the stylus—and notes in the Paper and Penultimate apps as well.

I like this stylus for writing, playing games and sketching (i'm not much of an artist but I dabble in doodles) on the iPad mini. I also like having it so my grubby snacking fingers don't dirty up my iPad's screen when watching movies and browsing the web. It's held up pretty well so far, I wish it had a cap for the nub so I wasn't worried about it getting damaged in my bad but the product itself performs well.

The weight and balance are nice and the nibs work well on tablet and phone.
However, the top silver part came off easily and it doesn't go back on very tightly; nor does it stay permanently with crazy glue.The green color up near the pocket clip is wearing thin. Basically, it WORKS fine, but in the short time I've had it it's come to look like a piece of junk. I have pens that I have spent way less on that hold up better.

I love my black Bamboo, it works great, but I desired a brightly colored one that could easily be found. This green one has a problem with the way the guts beneath the nib is constructed, not quite the same as the guts in my black Bamboo. This one, the nib does not protrude far enough, causing the metal sleeve to hit the screen with even a light touch. At first I thought the nib must have been put on wrong, but on closer inspection and comparing it to the black Bamboo, I could readily see that it was constructed differently. This one will be going back to the seller.

The stylus works, but after a few DAYS the tip has lost its sturdiness and is too soft, which requires a much bigger pressure to make it work. There are many reports of tips breaking down after just a few days of use. I contacted the company, did not receive a reply. Too bad!

UPDATE 5-10-2012
The company finally replied to my requests and sent one replacement tip. Hence I am increasing the rating by one star. I remain convinced that the tip should last much longer than a few weeks. Other stylus pens I have tried do not have this problem.

I own a Wacom tablet and a Cintiq, both of which are outstanding products, and so I was expecting to find the Bamboo Solo Stylus to be of similar quality. Instead, I found it to be no better in many respects than similar products costing must less. The main problem that I found with the Bamboo is that the tip is housed in a metal nib, and with very little pressure when used at an angle, the metal comes into contact with the glass on my iPad. The risk of scratching the glass on my iPad is not one I am willing to take. Come on, Wacom engineers, you can do better than this.
