This was the first time I've purchased a Pet mate Crate and my puppy (yes puppy of 8 months old and only comes to my knee) broke out of it one day. He did so from the time it took my wife to leave the door and walk to the car! He actually broke the welds in the door and squeezed out. He was in a large Crate made for a bigger dog as well. I contacted Petmate customer service. Their response was that our vet should be contacted about giving him proper training for staying in a crate. They actually stated that warranty isn't covered by a dog who tries to get out! What is the purpose of a crate other than keeping a dog safely contained? My puppy actually loves the crate and even goes in it when we are home and the door is open as does our adult dog. He goes into it of his own free will when its time. That was the 1st and only time he attempted to get out and was easily successful. We've owned dogs for some 20 years. We went back to the stronger brand we use. Due to poor customer service / poor excuses not to honour warranty (only had it 5 months)and inferior product I wouldn't endorse this product.

I've had my petmate for four years and it has held up through two moves, lots of trips, and two boxers sharing it's space. What I like is that the latches are bent at the end so when they drop down they lock closed so the dog can't get it open. Most of the other brands I see just have straight latches and if the dog is active enough in the crate they can wiggle open and let the dog out. Kind of defeats the purpose of the crate. I disagree with the above comment that it isn't user friendly. I've had no problems with mine. And the plastic tray is easy to clean. Mine does have a crack in it after all its use but it held up well I feel for all the abuse it has gotten. I do live on the coast and the high humidity has caused a little rust on the hinges, but everything around here gets it eventually. I'd rather spend more on one of these than less on a crate my dog can finagle his way out of while I'm gone.

Bought this to crate train our new Mini golden doodle and Cavachon (yeah, we went to pick up one puppy, and ended up with two). This model is nice and sturdy, and we have the divder in so they can lay comfortably in, but not much more. We had one "accident"4-5 days in from one of the pups, and none since.

The gate is so easy to operate that our almost 5 year odl, and two year old are able to open and close it (which it might be nice if the two year odl could nto figure it out so easily. . but I digress). :-)

The Cavachone loves it, but being 9 pounds, it's spacious for him to enter. The Golden Doodle is more free spirit, and at 22 pounds it's not for bouncing around in. . but he goes in easily enough. As they grow, we will continue to move the divder, and at full size, they should still be good in the crate.

Happy to get this through Amazon for quite a bit less than the crates were at the local pet store.

I bought this kennel before we got our Siberian Husky puppy and it arrived earlier than the estimated shipping date. The color is so pretty and so far has not scratched off from use. I love that it comes with the divider so I can confine her to a smaller area so that she's less likely to go potty while being kenneled. It is very easy to fold away or set up and not very heavy at all. I would not recommend this for a larger breed or "tall" breed as my other full grown Siberian husky has to duck his head in this kennel when I had a trial run with it when it first arrived.

I bought a dog crate from Petco when my dog outgrew her small one and paid $70. I bought this one as a second one to keep at my moms house when she dog sits my pup! This one is MUCH better quality then my Petco crate and a tiny bit bigger. I got so ripped off! So I returned my $70 one and bought a second off of here. Two for the price of ONE I would of paid in the store! The edges aren't sharp like some of the other reviews say. I'm not super handy with putting things together (I leave that for the husband) but had no trouble setting it up by myself. I'm insanely satisfied with both crates. So is that pup :)

We have now had our kennel for 3 weeks and it is perfect. We had gotten a new German Shepherd Husky mix puppy and knew he was going to get big soon and didn't want to waste the money on two crates and it has definitely saved us!! Having the separator is the best thing and I love that there are two entry ways so no matter where we put it, he has a way out!! :) Very pleased.
