    I was excited to see these - 100% alpaca socks can be hard to find. However I am VERY disappointed. The socks are a very loose knit and are not comfortable to stand on. Plus, the first time I washed them they started to ravel around the edge (wore and washed 2 pairs and each had the same problem). I bought them for myself and for my dad as a gift. Now I'm ashamed of my gift.

    I got these for my college age son and he likes them a lot. He says they are very comfortable, and after several washings they are still holding their shape well. I was surprised though at what a loose knit they are, it seems like there would be a lot of air flow through them.

    Based on reviews, I had expected a looser weave, but that's not what really ticks me off. There was no mention anywhere of stretch material being added. The packaging said 100% alpaca wool. I'm a diabetic and have severe reactions to natural and man-made stretch material. I got the socks on and in a short time, my cold feet were getting toasty, but my hands were beginning to swell and itch. I took off the socks and sure enough, the strands were there, small and perfectly dyed to match the socks. I'm really disappointed

    I love them, I wear size 12 shoes and these fit nicely, the cuff ribbing has thin threads of elastic woven through the knit to help it stay tight where otherwise it will stretched out with use.

    I don't know if these socks are treated with any finishes or chemicals that will repel moths, nothing is mentioned anywhere! but till I find untreated ones, these are great!

    I would have given 5 stars but, whatever treatment that was applied, "Sinks to High Heaven and it's nauseating!" It doesn't disappear after washing and the smell stays on your hands. Maybe it will disappear after a few more washings?

    I had ordered smaller ones for myself, and found them quite comfortable - no itch, light, and warm in cold weather, yet not over-warm in warm weather. These are great, though I don't know about hot temps - I go sockless in sandles now. This is a re-order for my son-in-law, and plan to get the smaller ones again for my daughter and daughter in-law soon.
