Serious Sanding Done Here!!

My old fence gate over the years has gradually swollen and would no longer open. Purchased these 24 open grit belts for sanding (grinding) a 4x4 fence post that required notching to relocate an existing gate latch which BTW had 3 cross drilled stainless screws beneath. Didn't want to use the saw out method as the screws presented obstacles. Also wanted a smooth bottom finish. The 4" screw heads were also stripped and removing them would prove to be difficult. I tried to use my Porter Cable heavy duty sander with a new 80 grit belt. The 4x4 just laughed at the sanding belt after about 3 or 4 minutes of use, barely scuffed the top finish. This pertified wood post was beginning to tick me off. My local big box store had nothing better than my 80 grit belt in stock, so I looked here on Amazon and found these United Abrasives 24 open grit belts. These belts performed flawlessly grinding the wood and screws down about 3/8" from original to inset the latch. Took about minute. It cut through the materials as if made of diamonds. The belt did not load up with wood or metal and seem completely un-scaved after it was all over. I think you could sand through an engine block with this thing.

If you have a tough job and need some real cutting power for your belt sander, look no further than these bad boys. They were outstanding on my project.

Couldn't ask for better

I was refinishing my desk floor and needed something that could really eat some wood and these guys were just the ticket. I ran them really hard for long stretches and the only times they came apart is when I caught it on an exposed nail head I had failed to notice. These are not for fine finish work on your dining room table but if you have a need to really grind down some wood, get these.
