These were too long for my use. They are advertised as 3/8" x 3", when reality they are over 3 1/2" long. The 3" they describe as the length is the distance between the head of the pin and the locking mechanism, meaning they have 3" of usable space. I should have ordered the 2 1/4" pins instead for my application. Seem to be of good quality, so I still gave them 3 stars. Just a poor description and lack of specific details, which seems to be the case with a lot of items any more.

I bought this to help with the ease of folding my Thule bike carrier. Other wise I'd have to loosen a nut and bolt every time to fold down the extended arms.This way I can keep it mounted in the hitch and the arms wont be sticking out too much when I park in the garage.

Bought this to allow for quick-release capabilities on a Thule hitch rack. The rack came with a bolt & nut that required tools to lower the bike-carrying arms. There was a quick release locking provided for the bottom pivot point, but not for the arms.

I did some research to ensure this met the specifications required to maintain the safety of the rack. It works great and can now in seconds lower the arms without have to pull out a couple of wrenches.

My local big box hardware store never has the right retaining pins in stock. They have the drawer, there is a home for this part, but it is never there. I actually ordered this pin with the Amazon app while standing in front of that empty drawer.

One note... This does not have a notch on the pin to help keep the retainer in place. I would have liked that, but I can't complain. It was clear from the picture that this one doesn't have that.

Overall, I'm very satisfied.

I purchased this for my Thule trailer hitch bike rack to make it so it would tilt forward while on the car without having to take a bolt out. Works great! It is a bit longer than the original pins but that's not a big deal. Very sturdy! Great buy!
