Great Parka

I just have to say, This is probably the nicest parka I have ever owned. It is heavy, and waterproof, exactly what I need. The fur on the hood is nice, as it helps keep the ears warm. Some people have complained about it not being warm enough without a hoodie underneath. This coat was originally designed for military use, meaning it was not some huge, overstuffed down parka. It was meant to be worn in layers, for maximum heat retention, and to be removable in the event of sweating. If you are looking for some massive down-filled parka, this is probably not the best one for you. Thanks for taking the time to read my review!

Great when sized down

Firstly, I'm 6'5' and around 200 lbs, 42 in chest, and wear a 16.5/ 36-37 dress shirt. I picked up a large at first, but it was massive around the chest and waist which is OK if you plan on wearing 2 or 3 layers underneath, but I expected something different from a coat marketed as 'slim-fit'. I should also note that the first one I purchased was the sage green color and it looked pretty awful in person.

I returned the large (which wasn't purchased from amazon, but directly from AI) and ordered a medium in maroon from Amazon, which turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. It fits snug on the waist and chest resulting in a nice silhouette, reaches halfway down my backside, and I was very happy to see that the sleeves were long enough even in medium. It keeps me very warm in frigid temperatures (I've only been down to 15 degrees farenheit, but was fine with just a t-shirt under) and is very water repellent, if not waterproof. I really enjoy the maroon color which is a deep red in person; obviously, based on the composition of the coat, the material has a sheen to it. This looked pretty bad with the green color that I had before (like a trash bag), but not with the maroon colorway.

Something interesting to note is that this coat doesn't have traditional seams at the shoulder, rather the seams run through the chest and upper back. There is an elastic cuff on the interior of the sleeve at the wrist to keep the wind out, as well as the front placket to keep wind out from the zipper.

TL;DR it is a very warm, comfortable, and stylish coat. If you're looking for a more fashionable fit, go for a size down. If not, just go true to size. Maroon looks great, sage doesn't.

warm and good looking

if you have athletic figure and no bear belly onboard - pls. take your normal size. this parka is true to size!
do not take any size bigger. this jacket is really warm and good looking. its a bit on the heavy side.

I'm 184cm and 86 kg, and my size is L.
I've got XL first and now have to pass it over to dad as gift...

Not the best N-3B parka

Overall, this parka is not bad, especially if you'd have a chance to buy it on Amazon just for $93 as I did. Its lightweight, waterproof and windproof. These are pros. But there are a lot of "cons" however. The hood is too small. Is presses on your head, and I have heard a lot of similar complaints from people which bought this coat. The artificial fur looks ugly. The parka is not warm. I assume some people can wear it at minus 20 C with just a tee underneath. If you are not a warm-blooded person (like me) you will put this parka on at just zero of Celsius or something like this. The internal pocket is rather small and does not secured with velcro or zipper or anything else. The main zipper was hard to operate at first but after several weeks it began move more smoothly. The nylon of this parka is quite stiff. As a bottom line, this parka is not bad for its price but it will never become my favorite winter coat.

Great warm parka for frigid NYC winters

NYC just hit record low temperatures, so I'm very happy with this recent purchase. Yes, it's warm - I took a half mile walk last night (-10 F with wind chill) with three layers and was actually comfortable. My brother who was visiting from Chicago commented that the weather would be considered notably cold for Chicago, so I think this parka could handle midwestern winters too. My pea coat can't stand up to the gusts of wind nearly as well. I like how it looks, replica gray is casual but not too much so. I feel ok wearing it both to bars and to work, and it generally fits right into the monochromatic style we New Yorkers love in the winter (although, the "gray" is actually slightly green, and the interior is bright orange). The fur on the hood looks ridiculous and cheap, but easily comes off. The jacket has an odd sheen that makes it look a little plasticy, but the parka overall feels reasonably well-made. My biggest complaint is that the pockets are high up, I have to bend my arms uncomfortably high to keep my hands in them.

Fit-wise I'm 5'9", 145 pounds, average/slim/slightly muscular build, and went with small. It fits my frame well and goes below my jean pockets, but the arms are slightly narrow. If I stop being so lazy and hit the gym more (I swear, once it gets a little warmer!), I may have to upgrade to medium or the non-slim fit.

Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. The price fluctuates a lot on amazon - it spanned 105-180 dollars in the two days I was watching it, but I would have been happy even if I had gotten it at 180.
