Love the idea behind these tags, especially the GPS. However, all of the information implied that the tags themselves have GPS capabilities, but after registering the tag, the website stipulated that only when the tag is scanned by a smartphone will the "GPS" information be sent out. I tried using my phone and after scanning the tag a box pops up asking if you would like the current location to be sent to the website. I find this to be misleading, the GPS is tied to the phone not the tag, and there is an option to not send the data. To me this is not "GPS enabled". I still like the tag, it is more convenient and easier to update than the microchip but I wish I had known about the GPS thing beforehand. My dog enjoys escaping and the ability to locate him was the major selling point to me.

My sister and I both have these Dynotag pet tags for our dogs, and we are hooked. This is the smartest way for us to ID our pets - use the Internet to store your contact information on your pet's collar. I see dogs all the time that don't have identification on their collars, and I can't help them find their owners. If the dogs are microchipped, I can't do anything but take it to the vet to get scanned. But if they had a Dynotag, I could easily scan the code with my phone and use the information stored on the code to contact the owners.

Plus, you have access to the QR code and can change the information if you move. Otherwise, I'd have to go to the pet store and put money into the machine to make a new tag every time I get a new address. Ultimately, this is a savvy, cool alternative to microchipping, and I think you'll really love it. I feel much more confident that if my dog gets lost, the Dynotag will save the both of us. Thanks, Dynotag!!

It's a a great idea and worked when I tested it. Those who think they are buying a GPS device apparently don't read carefully. "DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY GPS, ELECTRONICS OR BATTERIES - SO HOW DOES IT WORK?: This forth bullet point in description tells you all you need to know. However, the price alone should make that evident that this is not a GPS device.

I love having these for each of my dogs. Not only for safety reasons but also to keep track of their medical records which is very important. I am always afraid something may happen to me and my dogs would be motherless. At least I have peace if mind that a family member will know what medicines they need, who their vet is, age, date if birth, date of adoption, etc. I highly recommend these and would give out as gifts. I bought a medical alert one for my father and one for my keys which I always misplace. It is very easy to use and best of all MADE IN USA. Great customer service.

This is a great alternative to an aluminum engraved tag because, unlike the engraved one, the QR code should never become unreadable due to wear. It is housed in a tough, clear laminate. Plus, if you address or telephone information changes, you can simply update it on the site. Setting up the personal information that comes up when the QR code is scanned is easy and took only a few minutes to process. And, there are instructions on the tag as to how you can do a look-up of the tag info on the Dynotag website if the "finder" doesn't have a QR Code reader app on his/her phone device. The GPS feature is different than what some people have thought. What it means is if you lose your dog and someone scans the QR Code tag, you will receive a notification as to where the tag was scanned from. For $14.00 you DO NOT get a always enabled GPS tracking tag for your dog. Come on reviewers, let's be reasonable in our expectations.

Got it all set up as I wanted to make sure there were multiple ways to find my dog. He is in training as my service dog currently. He is not a runner but things can happen. I was a little wary of the tag being added to the already full ring but I feel it's worth it and if I want I can change how it works to make it a QR code for anything.

Well, if your dog ran away and you just want to check its location via GPS and find it, it would be impossible, 'cause it works only if someone scanned this tag. So I'm going to buy just a common tag with the name and my phone, it will work faster and will be easier for people who don't have internet access at the time.

Got these for my dogs. Everything works as described. I'm giving it 4 stars because I wish there was an option to have your info engraved on one side in case someone w/o a smartphone finds your pet. It comes with the QR code on one side and the company website on the other so you can enter in the ID number to get owner info. If you're in an urban area where everyone has a smartphone, it probably won't be an issue, but you may want to add an engraved tag if you're in a rural area. The GPS only gets to within about 150 feet. I scanned the tag in my house, but it showed up as being at a neighbor's backyard 2 houses away. Note: The GPS feature works off of the smartphone's location when the tag is scanned, NOT the ID tag itself. There is no tracking device built into the tag. When you register your tag, you can also get a notification anytime the tag is scanned.
