Because I have 3 KitchenAid Food Processors - different sizes, different homes, when I need to buy a gift and I see it on a registry for someone, it it always my goto gift. My oldest FP is now more than 15 years old and it gets constant use still. After all this time, the bowl is a bit nicked up but the blades are as sharp as ever and I couldn't manage without it. The 9-cup FP is a big workhorse and one I would absolutely recommend to anyone who cooks. It does quantity in a hurry and it doesn't have all those goofy pieces that are permanent attachments to some FPs. It is heavy duty yet doesn't have a scream or squeal to it, which is definitely appreciated if cooking with several people or entertaining while you cook. Buy it, you can't go wrong.

Spent several days of researching online which processor to get. After finding many forums suggesting Kitchenaid (even over the other well known brand) I figured I'd give it a shot and settled on this particular one for the size and nesting bowl design. Boy was that a mistake. First I did salsa, and found some rather large chunks of tomatoes still, but did not want to run it longer to puree the rest of the salsa into mush. Hummus was particularly sad. The processor hummed and whined as if I had dumped cement in it. The motor even slowed as if it was going to burn out so I had to pulse the hummus very gently to finish it. My blender doesn't even have issues making my hummus recipe. The resulting texture was very grainy, sandy hummus, yuck. I then proceeded to test out the dough blade with a simple sandwich bread recipe. That's when the motor took one try and poured out smoke! It was awful and I had to quickly unplug it and run outside with it, where it continued to pour out smoke on my deck for several minutes. Funny enough, it still runs. Went ahead and bought a Cuisinart (the other big name brand in processors) and after using *that* processor, I feel embarrassed I ever went with the other one. It makes it feel like a toy! On the bright side, I'm glad I got to try both, I would have always wondered which was better (equally positive and negative reviews online for both brands) - now I know without a shadow of a doubt!

Yes you could say maybe I just got a faulty one - but I think there is a bigger issue going on - look at all the other poor reviews on this page.

Aside from it doing a terrible job chopping, pureeing and kneading the design is also horrible. The machine is too light.

I just bought this (at a local membership-club store) for $99. I LOVE it. The engineers have thought of everything for this food processor. It has a large bowl and a small bowl. The food pusher is a 3-in-1. There are even seals on the bowls. It snaps easily in place. I ground over 10 lbs of chicken with it yesterday. It was AWESOME. Considerably lighter weight to lift, as well. In addition, KitchenAid has a 1-year "no hassle" return policy.

I was really excited to receive this product. I normally love everything kitchen aid, however this model falls short. I recently got rid of a $40 Walmart Better Homes and Gardens food processor which I have to say worked better than this in many ways. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't slice well at all and the food is constantly getting jammed just under the lid. I find it only slices half of what I send down the chute. Food also falls down the finger holes in the slicing and shredding blades. My other processor did much better at slicing and shredding than this and had a more efficient set up for attachment storage. On the plus side this unit is much lighter and attractive, it also has a quiet motor with two speeds that I like but in all I wouldn't pay that much for a unit that barely chops and constantly gets jammed with food above the slicing blade.

I had the older version of the Kitchen Aid food processor that I was given as amending gift and I loved it. It worked really well, but after ten years, the bowl was falling apart and I couldn't find replacements anymore. I "upgraded" to the new one with every expectation that I'd love this one as much as (or more than) my old one. I was wrong.

While this food processor works for the most part and it seems nice and heavy duty, the shape of the lid totally ruins the machine. When shredding anything (but especially cheese), the good gets stuck in the lid, near the chute. When it's cheese, the mass that is stuck in the lid is gummy and unappetizing. Then there is the chunk of food that doesn't get shredded at all. I understand that the thing that presses the food down the chute can't contact the shredder, but this sits nearly 1/2" up, leaving a lot of food unprocessed.

When washing this thing, if you submerge the lid, the dirty sink water (or dishwasher water) gets into places that can't be cleaned out. That results in a lot of build up inside that simply can't be removed. It doesn't contact the food, so it's food safe, but it looks disgusting.

The part that presses food through the chute is in three pieces. I don't understand why this is, as it doesn't seem the least helpful. It makes washing more cumbersome and leaves more pieces to keep track of.

When filled with liquid, even below the liquid line, it leaks out of the lid when you turn the machine on.

The normal blade does an adequate job of pureeing and chopping, but not by any means outstanding. Processing things like cranberries, nuts or dates with the regular blade also results in food getting stuck in the lid.

Basically, it eventually gets the job done to a minimum standard, but it's certainly not worth the money., given that every tome I use it, it results in frustration. There must be a better machine out there.
