I use a lot of vacuum bags. Big and small. FoodSaver bags are expensive and they "get you" on the price of the bag rolls. I found this item and thought I would give it a try. I bought both the large roll and the double smaller rolls from the same vendor.

The bags from FoodVac are thinner and do not do well with pointy items, like dried pasta and dehydrated potatoes. They will poke a hole in the bag as it vacuums down....sometimes. When I tried vacuuming the dehydrated potatoes, almost a quarter of the bags lost a seal. So did 'one bag out of four' with macaroni. However, for items without sharp edges, they seem to do just fine.

For some reason, on my FoodSaver, these bags vacuum much slower than FoodSaver. When I say a slower, I mean a LOT slower, but they finally vacuum down. Some items have taken well over one minute. The ends of the FoodVac bags will tend to curl, as in the video, and it makes placing them in the sealer a bit tricky. I also have to cut them a bit longer due to the curling. I have not had a FoodVac bag not function. Their thinner quality just makes working with them a bit trickier.

For the price, these are a good deal if you are aware of their limitations. If you need a higher quality, thicker bag, use the FoodSaver. If you don't, they will save you a lot of $$$.

Hope the video gives you an idea of the quality and difference between the two type bags. If you have seen the video for the double smaller rolls, it is basically the same.

At this time, I cannot vouch for how these bags do over time. I will update.

I used these to vacuum seal 5 bags of cereal last night and this morning the seal held, I am definitely ordering more. However, I did notice that I had to put the air channel side down when using in my FoodSaver. If I put the clear side down, then it would only suck about 50% of the air out before stopping.

I am a repeat buyer of these products and have only good experiences with using it. We live on a ranch and raise our own meat. So we vaccuum pack a lot and for extrememly extended freezer storage times. We wrap meats in ceran wrap, then vaccuum pack with this product. Meat lasts in the freezer, at correct temps up to 4 years without freezer burn or bad aftertaste. The only reason why I do not use this one as much as the main brand is because the rolls do not fit into the foodsaver and I have no wall mount for the rool.

I bought this knowing that I couldn't store the roll inside the compartment in the FoodSaver. But that didn't matter, I could just keep it close by and use scissors to cut off what I need. It works the same as FoodSaver brand bags, this just has more on the roll for a much lower price.

The first time I ordered this vacuum sealer plastic roll I got commercial grade plastic. The stuff was heavy duty, sealed well and made to last in a freezer. This time the plastic was thin and just not what I wanted or expected. Will not buy again. When I buy commercial grade I expect it to be that and not thin like a glad sandwich bag. Not a fan of bait and switch.

After using these and giving them some freezer time I upped my rating some. The seller offered to refund my purchase, but I decided to keep them. While not as good as what I got on my original purchase they are okay.

These are great, heavy duty bags! The price is fantastic for a 50ft roll and they are excellent quality. The only reason that I am not providing a 5 star rating is because these bags are more difficult to write the contents on.
