I came across this wish paper when I was looking for alternatives to writing on balloons and releasing them. We used these to send wishes to our baby boy that we lost a few months ago. They are just amazing!! We found the whole experience to be both beautiful and magicall. It definitely helped to put the paper on the platform cards to write our wishes as the instructions suggested for 2 reasons... one it was slightly easier to see your writing (if you hold it up in the light a certain way you can see it) and two because the paper is so delicate it made it less likely to tear as we wrote. We crumpled and rolled our papers, and one by one, we lit them and watched them magically lift up and then dance their way back down to us. Each one went about 5-6 feet up. Most of the time it stayed in tact and we would catch it with the platform card. We did have a couple that came apart on the way back down but no big deal. It's just a really cool way to release your wishes and we found something healing in it. We'll definitely be ordering more and are so happy to have found them!

We discovered flying wishes a few years ago when a friend sent them to us for our Christmas celebration. We dim the dining room lights, pass the papers, write our wishes and light them, one by one, using a lovely glass cake stand as a launching pad. We debate which rolling method works best. Some fizzle...most fly. There are oohhs and ahhhs and laughter. At the end of the process (we try to make it last) we sign one collective wish for someone whose cares are on our heart, and it becomes the finale. I think flying wishes are a genius idea. I gave them as gifts to friends and extended family this year. I heard wonderful things about new traditions started at their tables, too. I highly recommend this product.

I saw these in a little shop, and was enchanted when the owner let me try out a wish. You take a 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" square sheet of tissue paper and write your wish upon it. Scrunch it all up, and then flatten it out again. The wrinkles give the paper enough structure that you can roll the paper into a tube and stand it on end. You light an upper corner of the tube. At first the tube just burns, but when it burns about half way down, all of a sudden it leaps four feet into the air, where it finishes combusting. Then the charred paper floats back down to you. Poof, you have sent your wish into the heavens, into the stars, into the universe.

Included in the kit are:
- the tissue paper squares. These are in a darker color that matches the envelope design. I believe the tissue paper should be a dark color so the penciled wish is not easily read. The wish is only for you, not someone reading over your shoulder.
- the wish platform. This is a 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square of thick paper. It is printed with the pattern or picture that is shown on the front of the envelope. The wish platform is laid flat and the tissue paper tube is set edgewise upon it before lighting. (Edgewise, so it looks like a candle.)
- pencils. You get a 3 1/4" pencil with a metallic finish.
- matches. A pretty metallic matchbook with matches is included.

Obviously, any platform will work and any pencils and matches will work. But this set is beautifully put together and elegant. I bought one for myself and two for gifts. I'm thinking of using this at my next tea party.

These are so cute! I have a couple of milestone birthdays and occasions this year, and I wanted to add something different for those celebrating special events. I tried it first to make sure it worked, and at first, I thought it was just going up in flames, but when it flew up and dissipated, it was so exciting. Could these be any cooler? Heck no they could not. I purchased these after a friend had told me about flying papers. We have a ladies networking group and it was a great exercise to do one day during on of our meetings. Everyone had a great time. We did them indoors, which probably isn't the safest, but they worked out great and we didn't have to worry about the wind. Lots of fun, and so glad I found them!

I bought this to use at our first anniversary dinner. I thought my husband and I could write down our wishes for the coming years and it workd perfectly for that purpose. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and we had no trouble getting the paper to fly. I liked that they provided a little stand to protect your table. The only reason I'm taking off one star is that I suspect this product is a bit overpriced for what it includes, however I am generally willing to pay a small premium for good packaging and thoughtful design.
