Garage quoted 100$ per cylinder plus parts to replace plugs and coil on plugs on 2003 expedition 5.4 V8 with 160K km. Parts above were less than $250. Read the internet forums for good info. This job was done over two days. Day one – remove coils, blow out plug wells, add PB blaster and loosen plug quarter turn. Let sit overnight. Day two – blow out plug wells and remove plugs. The gear wrench socket was worth its price – I dont know how the back plug removal and install could be done without it. Take your time, plugs will be stiff / tight. Thread by hand and use torque wrench. A camping mattress pad was helpful to drape on engine as you spend time laying across it. Highway mileage went from 16 l/100km before to 13l/100 after. More important, check engine light is off.

These spark plugs appear to be different from the original spark plugs manufactured here in the USA. The metal appears to be a different shade by comparison, and probably made of a different material. This was more apparent because at first I was afraid they were used, but after taking a closer look I found out this product was manufactured in Mexico instead of the USA. Upon installing the fourth cylinder spark plug while trying to gap it, it was discovered that the electrode was below the ceramic casing.This brand new spark plug was defective. An out-of-box faiure. I was fortunate to have a spare in my tool box. I had told my son that I have been changing out spark plugs for the past forty-six years on all my vehicle and fellow friends and family, and I never had encountered a defective spark plug. I wasn't about to drive around all over town to see if there was the possibility to find an automotive parts dealer that still stocks Motorcraft spark plugs made in the USA. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these will perform great for the next 60,000 to 80,000 miles, just like my two previous set replacements. If this replacement turns out to be a major disappointment, Bosch will be my next spark plug replacement.

The plugs arrived quickly, two days, and in perfect condition. I installed them into my 1998 Ford F-150, 5.4L V8. These are the correct Ford OEM plugs for my truck according to Ford web site. Don't use anything else as they are too expensive and fail prematurely. I did have to set the gap before installation to .054in. Replacing the plugs and coils is a major undertaking on this vehicle. It took me 11 hours total and quite a bit of patience. I used many different socket extension lengths and wobblers to get the plugs out and in. I did not remove the fuel rail but took my time so as not to cause any damage. The plugs I removed were in for 97,000 miles and the exact same as these. Truck is back in action and running smooth and fresh.

Motorcraft plugs are always dependable and work very very well.
I have had them in my mustang and ford f150 f250 trucks and they run great.
Never run anything but . if it works don't fix it or try some flashy Japanese plug .

I use these on my 2002 F-150 5.4 2v Triton engine, they work fantastic and are designed for these engines, if youre not doing a high amount of mods to the engine, there is no reason not to use these plugs. These will give you miles of confidence with your plugs.

I used these after my truck spit out a plug after i bought it. (it spit out a Champion plug that was supposed to sure that problem, installed by previous owner, and obviously it did not fix the spitting issue) because the issue is not in the plugs but in the heads and maintenance intervals. {read below}

It is best to NOT use anti seize on these with the 5.4 2v modular motor, 1. Ford gives the torque specs as a dry torque (no anti seize) and also with the majority of the heads in these motors having only 4 threads for the plugs, and the 100k mile change interval being far too long to pair with this poor head design, anything that makes it easier for them to come out is not the best.

The risk of waiting 100k miles to change these is the plugs actually begin backing out of the threads and then POP!! the compression spits them out, with potential damage to the threads on the head. Dry torque these to proper torque and I suggest changing (or at least checking them and re-torquing) at 50k miles to give the best chance of avoiding a blowout.

I know the plugs are designed to go 100k miles, but one blowout can potentially cost you much more than one replacement of all 8 plugs, even at a shop.

So in conclusion, these are very solid plugs and I am very happy with the results I have gotten from them. You cannot go wrong with these!! Just stay on top of plug changes if you have the Triton 5.4 2v motor (possibly also the 4.6 but im not sure)

Ordered 10, got 3 defective. Now I am not sure if this is a seller or manufacturer issue, but, I really should not have gotten 3 bad in one batch of 10. 1, okay, things happen, 2, meh... a slip up of epic proportions but forgivable, 3 REALLY? Something is wrong. 3 plugs with no threads forcing a trip to the auto parts store that I didn't want to make cost a bit more than the simple plugs. Hesitant to order in a clutch situation again.
