I have relied on the regular Zymox for years. It is an effective, easy and inexpensive way to treat the ear infections that plague dogs. Although, in my experience, less is definitely more, I decided to try this product, Zymox Plus due to its promise to end recurrent ear infections.

My brother has a large and goofy german shepherd. He has suffered from chronic ear infections since he was rescued from the pound. He responded to regular zymox. After months, he again had an ear infection. My brother, not a natural solsutions type of guy, took him to the vet. He was prescribed an antibiotic ointment. He seemed to improve a little but then he got much, much worse. He again took him to the vet and got a different antibiotic. didn't get better. This back and forth went on for a month with no resoslution to the problem. It seemed that the two different bacterias were alternating. I finally purchased this product. Wow, what a difference. It cleared up the infection in both ears in a week, with major improvement seen within a day. Even better, the dog has been infection free for over six months.

Zymox Plus contains four more enzymes than regualar Zymox (which contains three). It is about ten or eleven dollars more expensive. Like the tregular formulation, it is applied directly into the dog's uncleaned ear. The ear is then gently massaged. I have found that if the dog's ear is very sore, the massaging is not necessary. He will just shake his head. As the infection clears, it becomes less sensitive to touch and massage can be performed.

If your dog tends to have chronic infections, this product is worth the investment. It is easy to use no side effectives and most importantly, it works.

I have been using Zymox Otic for over 11 years for my dogs. I do dog rescue and have had at least 50 foster dogs and my own adopted dogs that had bacterial or fungal infected ears. I have tried the vet's recommended Oti-Max, etc and the only product I would ever use in my dog or cat's ears in Zymox. It is a natural product that is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral.
I recommend using 1 -2 drops in the ear once a day for 10 days. If the ear is swollen, red and gooey, then I would use 2 drops twice a day for 14 days.

The Zymox Otic-HC does have hydrocortisone in it which helps reduce the swelling and inflammation. If your dog has a mild case of ear infection/fungal infection and you do not want to use the hydrocortisone, then you may prefer the Zymox with the green label as it works well, but does not have the hydrocortisone.

Be sure and read the instructions as they tell you to NOT use ear cleaner or other ear products while using Zymox. The ingredients in the other products will interfere with the Zymox ingredients. I prefer to use the Zymox only as other cleaners will burn since they have alcohol in the product and I don't want my dog to have more pain.

I have also used Zymox for other fungal skin infections on my dogs. I rescued a few dogs who had fungus between their toes or up inside the pads of their feet. So I used a few drops of Zymox and rubbed it into the skin. Since the Zymox is a thick gel, it was easy to use and cleared up the fungal infection within a few days.

I even used Zymox on my ears after a dive trip and I came home with an ear infection. It was cleared up in 5 days, but I used the drops for 7 days.

Our pets have had chronic ear infections as far back as I can remember. Our latest bout was one of the worst & after a couple of applications of Zymox Plus no more problems. If she does start the head-shaking & itching, one application is all it takes to relieve the symptoms. This stuff is incredible! I only wish I'd known about it all along. Even the Vets proprietary solutions never worked this well or as quickly. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Also, forgot to mention how easy it is to use - just apply to ear canal, cover w/ cotton ball, massage at base of ear & remove cotton ball - That's it! Like I said - Incredible!

I have 2 beagles that are a couple of "dirt bags"! They constantly were getting yeast and bacterial ear infections and the junk that would come out of their ears was awful. After hundreds of dollars in various cleaners, antibiotics and vet visits I was so fed up. The stuff they had me wash their ears with smelled horrible and discolored their fur - and they hated it. Terrible treatments twice a day for weeks. Then, I tried Zymox plus - I got a bottle for each dog so I wouldn't spread something between them by accident. This product is incredible - noticable difference after one application. I hadn't even used anything for 2 weeks and last night I cleaned their ears - nothing - absolutely spotless - no odor - no debris - this product is a miracle. I'll never use anything else on the kids again.
