I couldn't be happier with this stapler. It feels solid and not like it's going to break during heavy usage.I tested this out on a thickness of 22 papers while holding the stapler in my hand. the rubber cushioned my hand while pressing hard enough to staple the pile. This sits very comfortably in my hand and did not hurt after a long assembly line of stapling tasks. It opens easily for staple refills by just pulling open the spring loaded compartment. You can also open this stapler all the way in order to staple onto a bulletin board which works beautifully. There is a handy compartment to hold extra staples underneath that I find very handy if I'm in the middle of a staple job and don't want to hunt for a box of office supplies. It also has a strategically hidden and out of the way staple remover that folds out from underneath. I actually didn't find this remover as helpful as a standard old-timey staple remover so I wouldn't consider it a replacement. It will do in a pinch to help get the staple out if necessary though. Not that this is a must for a stapler, but it does look nice on my desk. The stapler looks modern and fancy (for a stapler) and I am so proud to be a Bostich Epic Stapler owner. (fanning eyes to dry tears of pride).
Seriously, how much can you really say about a stapler?? This one is good. It works perfectly.I foresee a long lasting relationship forming. I'm glad I got one. I would have liked it to sing to me when I get stressed in the office but that might have been a bit out of my budget. I give this one five thumbs up!

I bought two of these staplers. They look great, nice and rugged. Each come with a modest supply of staples. Both staplers worked well while using the staples supplied by the manufacturer. Once these staples ran out I tried using Swingline premium staples. Both staplers started jamming like crazy. Every 2-3 uses there was a jam. Also, you could not staple anything at all if the stapler was on the desk. You had to pick it up and hold it just so over the paper to be stapled. If you did not perfectly align the paper with the stapler, then one of the prongs would not bend but instead would just crumple. I have used these same Swingline staples in many, many different types of staplers over the years. This is the first time they ever jammed in anything, or at least jammed consistently so that I wanted to throw the staplers away. When I bought some Bostich staples, lo and behold, the jamming and other issues stopped. I would not have purchased these staplers had I known I had to also purchase a special supply of special staples just to make sure the stapler worked specially well. Your results may vary, but since this happened to me with two of these staplers, in two different colors, and with two different boxes of Swingline staples, I am not sure your experience will be any different.

As soon as I took one look at the Bostitch Epic stapler and held it in my hands, I knew it was die-cast and of very high quality. It's got some heft to it, but its ergonomic design makes it easy to hold and use. The bottom is lined with rubber to prevent slipping on a desk. The innovative design allowed me to place the stapler vertically on my desk by putting it on edge. The jaws of the stapler, at its widest points, are 2-1/8" wide and gives it the added stability needed to rest on end. If you have a lot of stuff on your desk, this aspect is most certainly a space-saving one.

There was no jamming when I tried stapling those 25 sheets, nor bent staples when I went through the cardboard on legal pads. The performance was quite impressive, but expected because this is a professional stapler, one made to last and do the job. One can use standard staples, 24/6 or 26/6. Beneath the rubberized bottom is a storage compartment for an additional strip of staples. If you need to staple a lot, there's no need to stop, head to the supply cabinet, and retrieve more. Everything you need is conveniently right on board.

One thing I haven't liked on the light-duty staplers is the fact that they don't open up. The Bostitch Epic opens up 180° and stapling on a vertical surface was effortless. The inset crimper is riveted to the base and the anvil is wide and solid. The entire construction of the stapler is impressive and lets me know it's one that will last. The Bostitch logo is on the rubberized top part of the handle. This is not a lightweight Swingline for casual use, but rather one that is intended to be used in an office setting where it will see plenty of use. Very well-designed, heavy-duty stapler that will last for years.

Bought this for my boss who has misused and abused a lot of staplers over the past 2 years. He's one of these guys who think you have to whack a stapler to make it work - I've bought the nice one-touch models that simply couldn't stand up to his hammering. This model, so far, is holding its own against "Harry the Hammer"!

The one I received was slightly scratched and not clean. Maybe it was a customer return. One other reviewer mentioned the rubber base and I should have paid more attention. The base on mine doesn't fit correctly on one side. I expected more after reading all the positive reviews.
