In all the years I've played guitar, I had never seen nor heard of a Harmony Stratotone until I saw one recently on the cover of Guns & Gardens magazine. I did some online research and found that this is a modern version of the one offered by Harmony in the late 50s to mid-60s. It looked great and sounded fine on several youtube videos so I ordered one from Amazon. It arrived in a couple of days, nicely set up and gorgeous. I changed the strings to ones I use and plugged it into my Fender Pro-Reverb and played it for an hour or two. Ten days later I find myself playing it constantly.

The workmanship is excellent, the finish immaculate, the neck is fast and smooth, and the tone through all three pickup switch positions is bright and clear. This is a guitar for rock 'n' roll, country, jazz and blues. I don't think it would work well for shredding or heavy metal. The gold foil pickups probably do not have the beef for really rough sounds.

This guitar is an absolute steal at the Amazon price, a very fine instrument.

This is a guitar you need to baby.. I sense that this guitar would not fair well
if not babied.. that's not to say its not gig worthy, just not a sturdy guitar like, say my Fender Statacaster. This is not a hollow body in the true sense its a semi with a block in it. with that out of the way, I really love this guitar. Like anyone reading this, I have had a ga-zzilion guitars but never one with foil pups.I love the tone/sound of this guitar and the neck is a players delight for both slide and and pickin'. Most music I play is early electric blues up through early B.B. King.,, quite a few slide tunes and the neck is perfect. Its the BEST slide guitar I have had, both sound and playability.. Strings are the same height from nut to bridge .. Like another reviewer indicated he couldn't put it down.. same here. .With all the controls and the foil pups its easy to fine tune it.. and get a distinctive sound. with or without processing the signal. ... It should be said that you should take the negative review on this page seriously. I've seen on different blogs that that there are more then a few lemons coming from the factory, however, Amazon has a great return policy. . I would have played and paid if any of the music stores here carried it.. I Love this guitar -

The Stratotone arrived poorly packed. There was a crack in the paint on the front a couple of inches long that is only visable close if because the glare of the finish obscures it. In addition, the wiring was very messed up. The only sounds out of most of the settings were extremely muddy even at very low volume. That said, it looked very cool and played ok. I wanted it , but not for what I paid for it.
I called Amazon and was given a reasonable price adjustment based on the defects. i brought the guitar to Precision Guitar in Phoenix to have them make sense of the wiring which looked clean but was totally screwed up. They did their magic and then I had a very cool vintage looking and decent playing guitar (since they threw in a little sit up at no extra charge).
I dig the guitar and it really has a vintage vibe and tone. However the pickups are only "gold foil" in appearance not in construction, materials or tone.
If I find a deal on some vintage gold foils or decide to invest some money in some Lollars for this guitar ...it will be more than a cool looking, decent sounding vintage style guitar.

The sound is the best. But the wiring was wrong. I was not able to use the function of the blender. I did a circuit rightly. now The blender is cool.
