good basic tool

I have been using this for a few weeks on and off. No problems, the magnet is good. Wish it was made in USA but that is hard to find. This is 2" a nice compact size, for me this is the one for 90% of the jobs. Not junk like a couple of no-name units I had picked up to replace my lost Dewalt tip holder.

DeWALT DW2046 Magnetic Impact Ready Bit Tip Holder

I use bit holders from both Wera and Dewalt and both manufacturers continue to impress. Although this bit holder is not "quick release", it still represents the high quality I expect from Dewalt tool systems. It's true, this item is small and relatively inexpensive, but when adding to your existing tool collective, it's a relief to have validated that you can count on Dewalt producing tool items of high quality and which just might last forever.

If you ever need a 2 inchBit tip holder, this Dewalt one is the one to get.

For some time now, I've only had a 1-1/4 bit holder and that actually was sufficient up until now. I recently bought one standard Torx bit (T25) and three Torx Security (or Torx Tamper Resistant) drill bits (TR 15, 20, 25) these drill bits did not fit my 1-1/4 bit holder. Then I came across this Impact Ready Dewalt bit holder.

Not only does this fit my torx bits, but also holds the bits firmly in place. Just to test how strong the magnet is, I've tried moving a torx bit whilst in the holder and it did not budge in the very least. Which is great, because the last action anyone wants to do is pick up dropped drill bits, especially if the bits them selves are fairly small.

However, this tool does live up to it's name of being Impact Ready. I've used this bit several times now and it's still as secure as it was when I bought it and has not scratched, dented or lost any of magnetic strength in the least.

To those who like to know this information, this magnetic bit holder is made in Taiwan, but regardless, is a fantastic and really is a durable tool. I'd recommend this anyone who needs a bit holder that is 2 inches/50.8mm.

Magnet fell out.

I thought I was buying smart by getting a dewalt bit holder, thinking that I could trust that the quality would be there, but after using this bit to drive 15 screws, the magnet pulled out along with the driver bit when i changed it. I thought that I would never buy a cheapo bit holder for fears that it would wobble and the magnet would be weak, but now who cares, I'll just buy whatever is at the counter in those 99 cents jars. At least I wont feel ripped off when it breaks.

and whatever bit I put on them would come off easily despite its magnet

Never will buy Dewalt shafts again. Both their shafts and bits can't stay together, and whatever bit I put on them would come off easily despite its magnet.

Milwakee got it right with their lighter designs that actually hold on to the bits.
