I've had Lava Lamps in the past but they were always the traditional shape. This one looked neat and was certainly inexpensive enough for the whim purchase that it was. It arrived more quickly than expected, well packed without excess and in working order.

I got it assembled in probably less than one minute -- no rocket science here -- and plugged it in. The yellow liquid is shown in the pictures as translucent but is very, very milky in the one I received. So much so that it is sometimes hard to see the wax moving around in there. I'm hoping that will settle out over time but it doesn't seem to be improving. I wish it were as shown!!!

The traditional Lava Lamps that I have owned in the past began working very quickly. This one is VERY slow off the line in my experience, taking over 30 minutes to even begin to grudgingly rise and fall. After a couple of hours you'll see multiple blobs of lava rising and falling but they're few and far between even after half a day of constant running. I think it needed more wax.

I'm very disappointed with the color of the liquid but the wax is as pictured and it otherwise looks exactly as pictured. I'm still considering returning it and going for the traditional style instead -- probably with clear liquid so I can actually see the lava move! But I can imagine that some people would like this one just as it is. Just wasn't what I signed up for based on the photo.

The liquid isn't clear like shown in the product picture. The liquid is a cloudy orange, so with the red wax, it's not a good match. The 2 colors together are kind of blah. And the wax itself doesn't do much, it goes up the glass about 1/2 way as 1 big ball, then drops to the bottom, then goes back up about 1/2 way, again as 1 big ball. then drops. It does that over and over, there's very little change in the shape or the wax. it's pretty much the same thing over and over. Again looking at the product picture the wax very, very seldom splits like in the picture, it's almost always just 1 big blob.

For $15 I can't complain too much. But there are much better Lava Lamps out there. This one is a disappointment.

I bought this because I really thought it looked neat according to the picture but in person the yellow looks more orange-ish and the red doesn't really stand out that much. The water is also cloudy.

Looks nice, but when you set the bottle in the base, it wobbles and will not sit exactly strait. It will lean to one side or the other. Not worried about it falling out, just looks funny not being completely strait. Also, takes 2 hours for the lava to start to float up and down.

I bought this lava lamp as a Christmas gift for my 9 year old son. It would have been great but I realized lava lamps are probably better off being bought in stores. Instructions for lava lamps state they should never be shook or they could be permantly ruined. Of course shipping a product through the mail makes that almost impossible. When I recieved this lava lamp and took it out of the package, the lava was floating in chunks. The liquid was very cloudy and I could not get the metal coil that heats up the lava to get pack down to the bottom where it was supposed to be. I decided to return it to Amazon immediately. I would have given this one star, but because Amazons return policy and free UPS pickup from my house made the return so easily, I gave it two stars. If I was rating how great and easy Amazon made this return, I would give Amazon 5 stars!!!
