Contrary to some of the reviews here and pics; I tested this scale (the 17.6 lb edition) with standard 50g, 100g, and 500g weights (bought on Amazon).

After taring the scale, it read exactly 50g, 100g, 150g, 500g, 550g, and 600g with the appropriate combinations of the above weights. At 650g, it wavered between 650g and 651g as if it were detecting some value in between (i.e. 650.5g).

For reference, 650 grams = 1.43 lbs. So, from my testing, I would consider this scale accurate to within 1 g up to roughly 1.5 pounds (680.4 g) and from this data I'll estimate a 1% - 1.5% error. For my purposes, that's pretty darn good!

I tried to take pics, but my iPhone won't show the digital readout in the pics. Hope this helps. It's a VERY nice looking scale btw; looks super slick and cool.

I wanted a kitchen scale that could be used in other ways as well - to weigh packages, check my cats' weight (really! (using a box and the tare feature)), or whatever I wanted to weigh up to 17.6#. It is the same size and weight as Ozeri's 11# scale (6"x9", 1#). It is very easy to use - there are only two "buttons" to press. Press "Tare" to start the scale; if you are directly measuring something, just put it on the scale and it shows the weight. If you are putting it in something, like a bowl, put the bowl on, press "Tare" again and it resets to zero - then add the ingredients you want to measure. On the left, you can change the unit of measurement by pressing "Unit" (pounds/ounces, grams, milliliters, fluid ounces). It advances to the next unit with each press. If you want to stop the tare feature, remove the container and press tare - it returns to zero. To turn it off, hold the tare button two seconds. If this isn't clear, the instructions, remarkably, are!

It also is slim, attractive, and doesn't gather fingerprints like another tempered glass scale that I tried. I also like that Ozeri's customer service is superb. They do not want unhappy customers, so if there is a problem, they fix it. Others have attested to its accuracy. I had hoped to find a scale that could be stored on its side, but given the mechanisms in these scales, and the instructions to store it on a level surface, without weight on it (similar to instructions on other scales), I figured out a way to easily do it - a "shelf insert" (sort of like a mini-bench that goes over cups or glasses to add a shelf over them) is ideal - you can just place it on top of the shelf (see article # 801.366.22 at Ikea for an example - other places call them "stacking shelves").

This is a fantastic kitchen scale. It's thin so it is easy to store and big so one can fit a lot on the scale. The tare function works well and the display is easy to read. What else do you want in a scale?

One thing I'd like to note that I could not find in the other reviews is the battery. The batteries that come with the scale are the CR2032 lithium batteries. I was a little frustrated that the product description did not make not of that, and in one review of, I believe, a different scale (can't remember at this time) the reviewer said that she chose to buy a scale that used AA batteries instead of one with "expensive lithium batteries." So, I took a chance and purchased the scale anyway. The scale does not use a lithium-ion cell phone battery. One can get 5 of the CR2032 batteries for around $2 on Amazon.

Previous digital scales I've owned and used have had a pair of common faults. Firstly, they would only weigh in increments of two grams. As a more scientific approach enters the kitchen, the ability to measure out precise amounts becomes all the more important, especially when baking. That the Ozeri scale measures in single increments of a gram was the first reason I selected it. The second is the display. The bright white on blue shines out from under the depths of the bowl sitting upon it, unlike my previous scale where a dull grey and black display would be overshadowed by the container leaving you squinting for an approximate reading. This is a good solid set of scales, at a reasonable price point. The unit is big enough to take most domestic containers and it's simple to operate. It does what I want it to do and does it accurately.

Great scale....accurate, sleek & EASY read-out with the illuminated read area. That makes all the difference actually. It has nice features, incl tare zero out. I will be using for portion control (dieting) & weighing everything from mail, pkgs, to my parrots. I'll include a pic of my parrot on it if I can figure out how to do that here. Also....great seller that cares about customer satisfaction....even got an email from the seller upon delivery to make sure I was happy with it. Very nice.
