I ended up buying an autosiphon, which works MUCH better. I had to go online to figure out how to use this (apart from the traditional method of sucking the beer through the tube myself - there's a better way). The cardboard insert didn't really make it clear how to use it. So I got an autosiphon, which is as easy as a bicycle pump.

The flexible hose needs to be a larger diameter than the racking can and bottle filler. It's the same diameter, therefore cannot be use with the other pieces. Thankfully in my case I was just replacing my old racking cane and my old flexible hose works fine, but anyone starting out from scratch will be disappointed. I'm using the new flexible hose for draining my fish tanks.
