I've tried several kinds of dpns: bamboo, metal, etc but none are as nice as these. They're lightweight, have a good grip on the yarn, not too short or long, and are pointy enough to be accurate but not so much that they split yarn. As for the other reviewer who got different gauge with these needles compared to her usual needles: gauge can change whenever anything else is changed. It could be that she held the yarn differently, or knit looser. It's always important to check gauge, and I don't feel that that reflects badly on these needles. They're well made and just right for sock knitting, though I've also used the size 5 to do ribbing on a sweater. I just wish that they'd sell them in sets of sizes 0-5. :)

I just the love the cubic style knitting needles. The only reason reason I gave 4 stars is that after about 1 week one of the needles started splitting. I can still knit with them but it catches the fiber on the yarn that is annoying. I would buy them again though. The cubics are much easier on my hands. I love them.

These are my favorite knitting needles. I love the square shape, it definitely keeps my hands from fatigue durring my longer knitting sessions. The wood stays warm in my hands. The points on these are nicely tapered, much better than my bamboo knitting needles. I recommend these to all knitters who like wood needles, but especially to beginers. I feel like it is much easier to hold on to these, and I am much less likely to drop stitches when using wood needles as opposed to metal. When I teach I always recommend starting with wood needles.

I bought these to try the square needle concept, and I'm glad I did. I gave them a real workout on the project I was working on. My conclusion? They really are easy to handle and a pleasure to use. I'll be buying more Cubics and using them often, I suspect.

I have lots of different knitting needles and I find myself reaching for these needles the most when knitting socks and gloves.

I updated this review on Jan. 27, 2016 because I purchased the 2.5mm and they are a little too weak because of the cubics shape, however I suggest buying the round dpns when you go below the 3.0 size knitting needles. . . . if you are a little heavy handed when holding your needles to do tricky stitches are to knit more than 2 sts together the round needles feel stronger.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to the following knitters:

1. Who wants a warmer touch than the metal needles.
2. Who do not like their dpns rolling when they put them down.
3. Who loves them so much that they don't care if their pets also love them.
4. Who have problems with aches and pains holding the round metal needles.
5. Who likes the smooth clear polished finished that makes the stitches more much easier than other wooden dpns.
6. Who is looking for a reasonable price to pay.
7. Who likes a needles that is more stronger than the traditional classic rosewood dpns that might be easier to bend than the Cubics.
8. Who is looking for a dpns that is safer to travel with than the metal dpns.
9. Who is looking for a reasonable taper point in a wooden dpns.
10. Who has always wanted to knit with the beautiful Rosewood dpns and was not able to for whatever reason makes these a wonderful substitute.
11. Who is looking for better stitches in their garments . . for some reason these needles let my stitches look better.

I was a little leery about trying these, but I love them. I normally don't prefer wooden needles, but for double-points, the lightweight wood is better. And I think the square shape helps keep the stitches from sliding off. Love them!

I find the cubics shape easier on my arthritic hands. The needles have enough grip that I do not lose stiches off the ends. That was a problem for me with metal sock needles. I was pleased with these and will probably buy them in sizes 2 and 3 as well.

I really love wood cubic needles.
They are comfortable in my hands, are warm to hold and don't let stitches slip as easily as other needles.
In addition, because I have cataracts it is more pleasant to use these because there is no shine or glare off the needles.
If you have cataracts you know what I am speaking of.
