I bought this to connect a Lavalier mic. It does not work. There is a mic pic indicating you plug in a mic on 1 side and or headphones on the other but look at the ad pic and it just shows 2 headphone connections. I tried several things and it does not work. I thought about sending it back but that cost $5+ and this costs $13. I would just be throwing $7 away so I'm gonna keep it for something. It is not worth the money and it does not do what it's suppose too.

Update: I was disappointed that this did not work BUT I was pleasantly surprised when Jarrod at Extrasensory Devices emailed me with concern. Great customer care. He offered to give me a FULL refund with s&h included AND send me an adapter that would better suit my needs. I had already ordered the RED splitter that I discovered was what I needed and that works for an external mic input. He's sending me one anyways which is great because I could use another one.

Here's a quick breakdown; they actually offer 3 different splitters

BLACK: This is for 2 headsets 1 being for a headset with a microphone

RED: This is for a mic input like a lavaliere mic or a mini boom mic or a flexible mic

BLUE: This a Mic-enabled Binaural Mono Splitter for Portable Devices

They have a clearer explanation on their website. Check it out in case I got something wrong. The explanation on amazon is a bit confusing and not clear. So I am now changing this review to 5 stars. The adapters WORK and the customer care is EXCELLENT.

This works perfectly and I love that one side supports a mic while the other only outputs audio. I use this on my XboxONE controller so that I can use my headset to communicate etc. and my wife can tap in and hear the chat. On the Xbox 360 you could have the audio come through the TV but not the case on the Xbox one. This solved the issue; she does not play but likes to hear the conversations with our friends.

I did not purchase it from here. It is indeed a headphone splitter. I have not tried out the microphone/recording functions, but might do that later and update my review. It's just a few wires, really, so I'm assuming he did it correctly. Like the creator points out, it's kind of mind boggling that no one else is doing this very simple bit of wiring to produce a superior product. So he did it himself.

It's a "super splitter", allowing a smartphone user to record phone calls, automatically cut over from stereo to phone calls, karaoke, etc.

Used with my game capture off the xbox one chat adapter! Works like a dream! It took me a while to find the right adapter, you may want to market it for this purpose. It let me output chat and game audio for the game capture while still being able to fully use a ASTROS.

I got the Wiretap when it was on Kickstarter. I was impressed by the build quality even for "first run" units. It works well on my iPhone 3G and 4S to share music through 2 sets of headphones. Some thicker cases may need to be removed for this to be fully inserted to the headphone jack. It was discussed in the kickstarter page about the balance of size and convenience of the plug/unit. What's great is that one line with the mic logo makes headphones with in-line mic to work flawlessly.

I have used the Wiretap to split audio from a Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter for Bluetooth Audio Devices (980-000540) to an Audyssey Lower East Side Media Speaker and to the LP-2020A+ Lepai Tripath Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier with Power Supply powering the Soundcast SCS100 SurroundCast System to a Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2-Inch 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair for a dual zone music atmosphere while using a single audio source (laptop or iPhone).

I got the Wiretap on the first run 500 unit batch sold on Kickstarter. The product is great quality & very robust. It feels like hard solid rubber & is very durable.

It is the highest quality headphone splitter out there. I use it as a simple splitter so both kids can listen to music on my iphone or their Ipod & it is great. But it's got a fun feature of one side being audio out & in so if you do karaoke with a digital player & microphone this is a must have product.
