I purchased this card because of the great reviews and low price. Unfortunately this unit has not performed to expectations. Great wireless signal, and easy setup on my windows 7 machine. After having this card in my system I started to notice the speed of the internet decreasing. So I did a speed test, I was only getting 4Mbps Down and 2Mbps UP. I suspected my ISP at first, usually I get 25 Down and 4 Up, and that is what I was getting when I first installed this card and tested the internet connection. Checked the connection speed to my router through the network status in the control panel, "300 Mbps".... Nope no problem there. Loaded up my laptop and did a separate speed test, the speeds were as expected 25D/4U. I found I have to constantly Disable and Enable this network card to keep it performing at it's maximum. I guess I'll be trying a different manufacturer.

**Update** 03/22/2013

I have been able to manually adjust the wireless adapter in advanced settings to achieve a good, and stable throughput. This is not something the average users would have been able to find. I have changed my rating from one star to three. The hardware is fine, but have chosen to only give the product 3 stars for what I believe is a driver issue.

**Changes Made

The settings that I have adjusted can be found by opening the Device Manager under control panel and selecting network adapters. Right Click Realtek RTL819CE and select properties. Under the advanced tab disable the Roaming sensitivity level, and change the TX power level to 100%. I am using Windows 7 64bit and assume windows XP thru Windows 7 would have the same setting available.

I was originally an ASUS WiFi adapter user. My old card uses Realtek chipset, which is basically junk(constant loose connection). I had doubt about this card, since someone told me it uses Ralink chipset. I emailed the Rosewill Customer Service. They respond my email within 4 hrs and tell me it is Qualcomn Atheros 9380 chipset. And as it turns out, it IS.

AR9380 is THE best chipset you can get now for dual band WiFi adapter. Sure there are newer chipsets, but they are limited to either OEM PCs or Laptops. Overall I am very impressed with this card. I can get ~60MBps of Speedtest.net on my E3000 router. My internet is Comcast 50MBps with Boost, so it is pretty awesome. Consider I was getting ~20MBps on my old Realtek chipset WiFI adapter.

One thing to make sure is ALWAYS get the latest driver directly from Qualcomn. Don't download driver over Rosewill's website, their drivers are pretty outdated.

Highly Recommend for any Desktop user who want to add quality and speedy WiFi.

I bought this for a client of mine who could not get wireless to his upstairs with various products he would either get 1-2 bars or not connected at all. It baffled me since his desktop is literally 15 feet above his router but his house is over 100 years old so I guess the materials don't play nice with WiFi. This is what I did. Installed the card booted the computer ran setup.exe a minute later (core i5 with 16 gigs of ram) he had full bars and was getting almost his full internet speeds. Easiest money I've ever made.

I have bought a few products from Rosewill lately (RNX-EasyN4 router and Rosewill RC-410LX Gigabit Switch) and have been very pleased. I like the simple colors not to flashy and just plain works. If Rosewill makes the next piece of hardware I need I will be buying from them.

Yes, you need to use ASUS drivers (download the ASUS n53 dualband driver), but with those drivers this card works great. Very strong signal and fast speeds.

1. Remove card and boot into Windows 8.1
2. Uninstall Rosewill drivers.
3. Reboot.
4. Install ASUS drivers.
5. Shutdown Windows 8.1.
6. Install the card.
7. Reset the BIOS (may not be necessary, but worked for me).
8. Reboot into Windows 8.1

This process worked well for me while experimenting with different drivers before settling on the ASUS ones.

I just received this card and for a first impression, I am more than happy. I plugged it in, started up the machine and just loaded up the driver. As a previous reviewer said, for win 7 x64, only the driver is included and no utility. For me this is a plus as the utilities are usually additional crap I never use but I mention it in case this might be a factor for someone else. Once driver was loaded, I immediately connected to 5Ghz and am getting a solid 450 mb/s connection. I am going through two walls at a distance of approximately 25 ft and have full bars signal on both bands.

This is my second Rosewill PCIe adapter, both have worked great and the price is right. I won't repeat what others have said about performance and Windows, but I bought this since I was never able to get my Belkin dual-band USB adapter to work under Linux, even with ndiswrapper. Since my older 2.4 gz adapter worked fine, I though I'd give the dual-band version a shot. This Rosewill adapter worked fine, the Linux kernel has drivers already for this card. I'm running Arch Linux with kernel 3.8.x.

Edit: Apparently this isn't working with Ubuntu 14.10. See comments
