Format: Audio CD
French heavy/power metal band Lonewolf released their fifth album, titled Army of the Damned, in 2012. Now the French aren't exactly known for their headbanging heavy metal scene, but a band as fierce as Lonewolf definitely brings the metal.

Lonewolf's sound has a lot in common with another European heavy metal band with a lupine theme - Germany's Powerewolf. Both bands have that Teutonic heaviness and catchy melodic approach, and both feature somewhat gruff vocals. Lonewolf doesn't appear to be quite so fixated on all things diabolic though. Sabaton and Accept are other obvious influences. This definitely isn't your typical shiny, happy, upbeat power metal album. Army of the Damned is an album built for headbanging and shouting along to anthems like "Celtic Heart," "Hellbent for Metal" and of course the title track.

Army of the Damned is a totally solid, totally heavy album that just about any fan of heavy power metal should enjoy. Fans of Sabaton and Powerwolf in particular ought to love this, but Lonewolf will also appeal to fans of classic bands like Accept, Grave Digger and Running Wild.

For a power metal album it's great. the vocals are a bit harsh and take some getting use to, but overall i thought it was a good album. the music itself is excellent.
