I ordered these to go along with a replacement igniter for my gas range. While the original (or perhaps last replacement) one was attached via some sort of plastic wire nuts, I figured these were a better idea. These are solid porcelain without any other means of facilitating wires to hold, which is a bit less than ideal. I wished I ordered a size larger, but they worked with the small gauge wire, and I'm certain these won't suffer from the heat of the oven.

These are getting hard to find in local stores including the big box home centers so it's nice to be able to get them here at a good price. They're what you need if your replacing a halogen socket in an overhead fixture. The halogen lights get very hot and will melt the plastic wire nuts you'll have on hand. When the plastic ones melt the socket will fail or, worse, could cause a fire. Use these and avoid a problem.

Size: 5/8 inch long by 1/4 inch inside diameter. No metal coil inside, instead it just has a raised porcelain spiral.. The attached photo shows the product alongside an Ideal light blue twister for scale.

They are good for #12 awg, but they are a little short for doing wire sizes any larger. I use them in high heat conditions, like for heat lamps in restaurants.
