Product is not reliable, period

I saw some other bad reviews but figured that the manufacturer would be addressing defects and improving its product over time, so I tried it. WRONG. The product worked (though the sound was not particularly high fidelity) the first time I used it after install, but then when I powered it up the second time, the display lit up and then suddenly went dark, and would not work again. This is a different defect than those experienced on the other reviews, but it is obvious this is a poorly made unit with very inferior materials and/or workmanship. I will not be purchasing any other Boss Audio products in the future, you get what you pay for!

Serious Flaw

I purchased two of these units from another retailer. Both were defective. I returned them and ordered a unit from Amazon. Within a few days it suffered the same fate. Let me start by saying that I am very familiar with wiring. I soldered all connections and used brand new quality speakers and speaker wire. The problem with the units (1) first unit failed to produce any sound at all. I called tech line for Boss was advised probably defective. (2)The second unit produced sound of high quality but would frequently cut out. Initially I thought it was the connectors supplied by Boss and I actually by-passed them. In the end, this unit "froze" in USB mode, much like a computer freezing, would not take a reset and was rendered useless. (3)The third unit from Amazon worked flawlessly for about a week. Then however, all sound cut out. I found that by disconnecting front speakers the rear speakers would kick in. All four speakers are 4ohm as recommended by Boss and high quality. All speakers have been tested on other units and work well. I believe it is actually a FIRMWARE problem. I will not get into the technical reasons why I believe this. Bottom line there is a serious problem with this product. It's unfortunate because the build quality, the weight etc... are impressive.
